An incredible Virginia river-front home on the historic York river with a private dock, has ample privacy, and sleeps 8 guests. Ideal for a family looking for a private retreat by the water and those who simply want to be in a gorgeous secluded location surrounded by history and nature. Whether you are looking for a vacation filled with relaxation or exploration and learning, we know you will adore this home!*We offer long-term rental specials, contact us to learn more!The SpaceThe home has three large bedrooms, all have flat screen TVs, comfortable bedding, and fresh linens. One bedroom has a king-sized bed with a weaved headboard, one bedroom has a queen bed, and the last bedroom has a full bed, a twin daybed, and a twin trundle. The bathrooms have plenty of towels and paper products for your stay, as well.The entire house has a tasteful decoration in keeping with a waterfront Virginia home. There are large windows and seating with great views of the river, and the family room has a large flat screen TV with an attached sunroom which also has a great vista over the water.Outside is a 200-foot private dock that has a couple of benches, crab traps that you can use to catch blue crab for dinner, and plenty of great places to fish. There is a beach on the property’s shoreline, also a great place to enjoy the water or fish—previous renters report the croakers are biting. In the backyard is a picnic table with benches, and tables with chairs, and plenty of trees for shade and privacy.The kitchen has the appliances and things you need to cook up delicious meals for your crew, plenty of counterspace to accommodate those larger or more complex meals, and a great place to set up dishes for buffet-style dinners.The home also has games, movies, a chess board and plenty of televisions and sitting areas, which means your group of up to 8 guests can spread out and do the activities or relax without being on top of each other! There are also kayaks which you can use on the river.The Perfect DayAfter your favorite blend of coffee or tea is brewed, grab a cup and take a morning stroll out onto your private dock, and sit on one of the benches and watch as the Virginia river wildlife comes to life and greets the new day.After a breakfast or brunch, set up the crab traps and grab the fishing poles for a fresh seafood feast later in the day! Or you can set up some vegetable and cheese platters and set outside while you lay out a towel on the grass in the sun (or shade) and read a good book or magazine, all the while enjoying a cool refreshing beverage.If you are hungry for some knowledge, great dining, and a day out in the town, you can head to Williamsburg, Jamestown, or Yorktown, all of which lie across the river. There you can learn about our incredible American history up close, have a great lunch or dinner, and shop for the next great piece for your family home, which also makes a great memento of your stay!Check the crab trap! Many guests report catching huge blue crab that are great steamed with lemon and drawn butter, with a dash of Old Bay Seasoning. Or you can cook up a feast in the kitchen and serve outside in the warm Virginia evening, filled with lively conversation as your family shares their favorite moments of the day.Then, after the kids are settled down with a movie or are in bed for a night’s sleep, the adults can grab a glass of their favorite vintage or brew and walk out onto the dock to enjoy a lovely sunset in the arms of your loved one. A perfect end to a perfect day!The NeighborhoodOur home is on the bank of the York River, in a secluded location that is peaceful and surrounded by nature. There are great views up and down the river of several Virginia towns that dot the far shore.Williamsburg, Jamestown, and Yorktown are all within about a 35-minute drive and have a rich American history, perfect for those looking for a vacation that is educational and inspires, great for getting the kids excited about learning! Busch Gardens is also within a half-hour drive, and you can see their fireworks from the house!Olivia’s In The Village is a 15-minute drive away and is a very highly rated seafood restaurant in the town of Gloucester, a perfect place to get a taste of the sea while letting someone else do the cooking!Gloucester also has all of the places you need to make your stay a success, there are grocery and liquor stores to keep your refrigerator and pantry stocked, gas stations, and more. There is shopping as well, and art galleries to browse the local cultural talent.
