Description

A lovingly built cabin made for a getaway place for our extended family who are now too busy to keep it in use so we offer it to your family and friends! It is off-grid yet quite comfortable with oil lanterns, two burner camping stove for cooking, an indoor sink, an outhouse and an outdoor solar bag heated shower, and an outdoor fire pit. The roomy screen porch is a particular favorite with our guests. Sheets are provided and a few blankets (you may want to bring additional blankets given our erratic Maine weather) and we ask that you provide your own towels, candles and flashlights. If you come in the fall be prepared for quickly changing weather and bring your layers! A separate room with a full sized bed, and a sleeping loft with a twin and a double mattress on the floor – this site does not allow us to describe the loft properly! The main room also has a futon full couch if needed. The cabin is located adjacent to logging roads and our fruit farm which is slowly building up to full production with a kiwi orchard , ramps, and a producing strawberries in a hoophouse for early ripening fruit. We move our horse and pony around to different fields during the warmer months (and ask that you respect all fencing!), and keep pekin ducks (the white ones hence our farm name “White Duck Farm”). The farm is 75+/- acres and located on a quiet rural road – star gazing anyone? We have a canoe available to rent and use at our nearby creek and two ponds. Food markets and some very good places to eat are within 6-7 miles. Our town has a large number of conservation areas for hikes and exploring. Perfect location to explore the rest of Maine’s midcoast and islands – or heck! – just relax!
