Description
Our Access, Parking and Unique Setting—A paved, town-maintained road leads you uphill from Rt. 16 to our chalet style style condo in popular Linderhof Resort and Glen Village. The town road and private driveway serving this condo community are well-maintained and quickly plowed in winter. Owners and renters temporarily move cars during snow storms so that the plows can efficiently do their snow removal.One parking space is designated for out condo and located about 50′ from the chalet along the Association driveway. Ample additional parking is along the driveway. There are several shallow and wide stairs leading down from the driveway to our building, a small price we gladly pay for beautiful setting and outstanding views.Our Home—It is a 1 1/2 story condo advantageously located on a commanding, hilly, mountainside site on Thorn Mountain with broad, spectacular views. Our home was beautifully designed as a 1 1/2 story upper condo unit comprising one unit of the four unit chalet building.Interior Description-The front door opens into a spacious, living room with cathedral ceiling and a wood burning fireplace. There are outstanding views through many oversize windows. Fireplace wood is available at a nearby convenience store. Wide, sliding door access from the living room opens onto a 150 SF open deck with rails, ample deck furniture, lighting and truly extraordinary views. The deck also overlooks an attractive, open, shared back yard lawn and common area for a variety of games and lounging. The kitchen is fully-equipped and updated with a granite island seating four and a separate dining area seating six to eight. The kitchen, living and dining areas have an open, vaulted cathedral ceiling and extensive windows that provide excellent, unobstructed views over the Mt. Washington Valley and Presidential Mountain Range. Ventilation is very good thanks to extensive sliding glass windows and fans throughout, and augmented with typical mountain breezes over this mountainside neighborhood. The first floor has a large bedroom with queen size bed, dressers, chairs and closet. A second bedroom has four newer bunk beds and a couch that can also be used as an additional bed. A newly updated full bathroom with tub and shower has a utility area, washer/dryer and household supplies. The second floor has a large master bedroom with a queen bed, dresser, side tables and a small office area with desk and chair. It also has its own private, full, updated bathroom with tub and shower. And, for an additional living space, there is also a small, comfortable reading or lounge area with beautiful mountain views in the second floor foyer nook overlooking the first floor and the large windows with mountain views. Our home has been very well-maintained and updated with almost all newer furniture and furnishings. The new electric heat thermostats supplement a reliable forced warm air heating system. There are fans and many windows in all living areas with good air circulation supplemented by mountain breezes. Formal additional air conditioning equipment has not been necessary .Our Neighborhood —The setting is quiet and serene in a small, well- designed and unique community perched on the side of Thorn Mountain. Our home is part of the Summit Vista Association with a total of only 28 attractive condominium units with with compatible and conforming style. It comprises a mix of year round and second home residents as well as short and longer term renters.Area Recreation and Amenities—Rt. 16, Storyland, Living Shores Aquarium and Glen Village shopping and dining are only 1.5 miles and two minutes away. The broad, expansive, elevated, 180 degree views from our home are truly spectacular to the south, west and north over the White Mountain Range and National Forest. The best hiking, mountaineering, swimming, bicycling, nordic and alpine skiing, museums, restaurants, shopping and sightseeing are all easily accessible within a five to twenty minute drive. There are extensive and very popular recreation, other tourist and dining opportunities nearby and throughout the Mt. Washington Valley. Our home has centrally located access to them. There are more than 1,000 miles of hiking trails and seven alpine and nordic skiing areas within a thirty minute drive and six areas within just twenty minutes. Shopping options are abundant and a full size grocery store is five minutes away at Glen Junction. There are several lakes, rivers and waterfalls fairly nearby for swimming, wading, canoeing and relaxing. More indoor and outdoor recreation amenities are found at the separate Linderhof Resort Clubhouse only two minutes away. Its fitness gym, pool and other recreational amenities may usually be available for a daily fee paid by renters directly to the Club. This arrangement can change from time to time. The Christmas Mountain Club also has recreation amenities that may be available when that club reopens. Renters should make their own inquiries in advance regarding current status. Several other fitness gyms and pools are available in Mt. Washington Valley. Couples, families with young or older kids, empty nesters, retirees and just friends will be pleased with what our Summit Vista home offers for a brief or longer getaway or vacation. We think all guests and visitors will be pleased.Health Issues-Covid and its variants previously had a dampening affect on everyone’s activities. Although much less prominent lately, travelers and renters should also make their own inquiries to stay informed about any changes in its status. Our home is consistently and reliably cleaned by professional housekeepers at the highest standards. Anyone exhibiting COVID or related symptoms would of course be best advised to remain at home until well. We are not aware of any other current health threats.
