See our website for details.#Your Little Slice of Heaven! Located in a park-like setting, this fairy tale cabin embodies the quintessential getaway cabin in an incredible and unique setting, including amenities such as a hot tub, on site hiking trail, and seasonally a volleyball court and ice skating rink! The traditional log cabin design mixes old fashioned elements like hand carved bear accents and a soapstone wood stove with modern comforts such as modern appliances and central AC (and of course, heat!), and even a generator in case a storm were to cut power out. Step outside to find a gorgeous masonry firepit, our very own beach unaffected by crowds and restrictions, beautiful landscapes and 32 acres of pristine land, full of amazing wildlife viewing opportunities! And new for the 2022-23 season, a 25×45 ice skating rink and a hot tub! The cabin, with 9 bed spaces, is bear-themed, and the craftsmanship is outstanding! A soapstone wood stove adds to the cozy factor on those cold winter nights. We have been busy cutting new trails, giving easy walking access to some stunning ecological areas of the property, from wetlands and ponds to riverfront walks. The river is a well known fishing spot, and its clear chilly water is fantastic for a dip in the summer – or wade along the shallow edges for a serene walk along the edge of the National Forest. Skiing, hiking, fishing, river tubing, or simply enjoying a book on the deck or hanging out by the fire pit – pick your favorite way to make memories! Enjoy dinner on the deck thanks to the comfortable outdoor dining set with sectional seating. Or walk to our front gate and find the muddy patch where moose are most often seen – one of the best spots in the entire North Country for moose sightings! Sit on the deck and watch for our resident bald eagle flying by. You will feel like you are away from it all, but still in the heart of everything Bretton Woods has to offer. Views of the West Mountain ski trails. Dogs always welcome! And never worry about a storm knocking out power; with a whole house generator, the lights will stay on, no matter what! There is so much to do – so why not take a few days off or work remotely and add a few days to your stay? Our rates get cheaper the longer you stay so, why not? Some of the ones that you are more likely to encounter include Brown Bears, Moose, Snowshoe Hares, Beavers and White Tailed Deer. Bobcats are also present, but they are rather secretive and only rarely seen. In addition, the property is home to hundreds of different birds. In fact, the area in front of the Moose Lodge, named “Brooks Field,” is one of only 3 designated open areas of the National Forest. The National Forest Service keeps this area trimmed to support a nesting habitat for a number of birds. In addition, you will notice a lot of wetland around the property, especially on the Western side. These areas are dotted with small creeks and vernal pools, which in the right season are full of tadpoles and salamanders. In early summer, however, it’s the fireflies (aka lighting bugs) that steal the show! You will see them everywhere, but especially over wet areas as they engage in their spectacular mating behavior. Many visitors want to see moose – and rightly so. They are beautiful (albeit goofy looking) animals! The best spot is just a few hundred feet to the left of our gate, along 302. The muddy pit is one of the best spot in all of New England to see moose, and a favorite stop for the moose tour. Keep in mind, moose do not like the heat, and tend to remain in the woods during the day. The best time to spot them is spring time, or the evening or early morning hours in the summer. In the winter, they tend to migrate to higher grounds, where strong winds mean less snow accumulation and easier access to food.*Please note – these are Wild animals. While attacks are extremely uncommon, exercise caution and never approach wildlife, as tame as it may seem. Even that small bear cub can be dangerous – mama bear is most likely not far, and will not like you being too close to her cubs. If you encounter a bear, remember – they are as afraid of you as you are of them. Make lots of noise and they will most likely quickly turn around. Enjoy our animals but please, respect nature!House Rules:Short Term Rentals affect the neighbors and communities around them.
