Description
Scenic Solitude Hosted by St James Vacation HomesGreat Waters at Reynolds Lake Oconee boasts exclusive gated living, a newly redesigned Jack Nicklaus golf course, rolling landscapes, towering pines and hardwoods, and some of the most stunning panoramas of Georgia’s second largest lake. Among the natural beauty and just steps from another of our most popular vacation rentals sits a newly renovated 3-bedroom, 3.5-bath cottage whose welcoming front porch is just the beginning of a delightful 2-story retreat that exudes Southern charm and gracious hospitality. With both homes being neighbors (quite literally), this is an ideal getaway as a standalone property or as a dual reservation for groups that want to occupy both cottages.Situated on a corner lot and shaded by surrounding pines, Scenic Solitude faces the Great Waters driving range (just across the street) for unique front porch views that are favorites among golfers and those who appreciate the soft light of sundown. Next to the front door, guests are greeted by a miniature UGA statue – one of several subtle nods to our beloved Dawgs who – ahem – just happen to be the 2021 National Champions!Inside, more personality awaits with a tastefully renovated open floor plan with hardwood details, abundant natural sunlight, warm colors and textures, and plenty of places for small or large crowds to kick back and take full advantage of lake life. The living area provides ample seating on a sofa, loveseat, and armchair. A nearby reading nook houses books and board games, but the Netflix junkies won’t feel neglected with an oversized wall-mounted flatscreen TV anchoring the room and providing plenty of cable and streaming options. The gourmet kitchen is highlighted by abundant counter space, cabinet storage, and all new stainless-steel appliances including a side-by-side refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, stovetop oven, and microwave. Two coffee makers are on standby for your favorite drip or K-pod brew. Two barstools wait for occupants, and a farmhouse-inspired dining table with seating for 8 beckons mealtime conversation. During mild weather, enjoy al fresco dining on the full-length screened deck outfitted with an outdoor dining table and 6 chairs, propane grill, wall mounted flatscreen TV, patio chairs, and new cushioned outdoor seating. This area is a favorite for early birds, night owls, and sun-kissed kids who aren’t quite ready to retire for the day.The master suite, also located on the main level, also offers access to the back deck and is generously furnished with a king bed, night tables, luggage racks, dresser, wall-mounted flatscreen TV, and a walk-in closet with floor-to-ceiling custom shelving that would make Marie Kondo proud. The ensuite bath showcases a large vanity for extra storage, soaking tub, and step-in tiled shower with detachable rain showerhead. Also on the main level are a laundry closet with a full-size washer and dryer and a powder room just off the foyer.Ascending the staircase, guests will, once again, be greeted by artwork of the very distinguished University of Georgia mascot, “Uga,” and two guest bedrooms with rare surprises: double queen beds in each room for a sleeping capacity of 8! In addition to plush bedding, each room is also detailed with a dresser, luggage rack(s), large windows, wall-mounted flatscreen TV, and storage closet. Two bathrooms – one ensuite and one shared – come with plenty of bath linens and offer undersink storage and step-in shower or shower-tub combo. Kids and teens will appreciate this space to call their own, and parents will enjoy having their own retreat downstairs! With so much comfort inside and so much to do right outside your door, you may not have much reason to leave your home-away-from-home! However, if you are curious to check out local life, there are plenty of places to explore right outside the gates. Harmony Crossing is replete with boutiques and plenty of dine-in and take-out meal options. Travel north on Highway 44 to stock up at Publix, enjoy breakfast at Café 44, or try one of the blends from PJ’s Coffee of New Orleans. We also recommend visiting the historic districts of downtown Eatonton and downtown Greensboro. Both have mom-and-pop cafes, restaurants, and retail stores that are locally owned and operated. Be sure to check out the local events, festivals, and farmer’s markets, too!
