It is nestled among the native palms, and has a private, wildlife-friendly setting you will love. North Captiva is a bridge-less, car-free island situated in between the coastal barrier islands of Captiva and Cayo Costa. Transportation to the island is provided by scheduled water taxis, private charter, or your own boat. The island has over 5 miles of pristine sandy beaches to explore and the southern portion includes over 350 acres of protected state park land. Golf carts, bicycles, and sandy feet are the typical mode of transportation (shoes are optional).Guests of Gumbo Limbo will be registered with both The Island Club at North Captiva and the Safety Harbor Club and will have use of their amenities including their 3 large pools, tennis courts, private beach access and use of sea kayaks and bicycles. Through special arrangement with the host (boat registration and insurance information provided for Safety Harbor Club) boat dock space can be used at the Safety Harbor Club wharf. With, or without a boat, guests will enjoy fishing, wildlife watching or enjoying sunrises and moonrises from the harbor docks.Gumbo Limbo is available for up to 6 guests. The first level of the house includes the living and dining areas, the first floor porches and decks, an outdoor shower, the kitchen, first floor bedroom and bathroom. There is a queen sized bed in the bedroom and a couch with queen size pull out bed in the living area. The second level (accessed by spiral staircase) included 2 full size beds, an attached bathroom with bathtub/shower, and a small outdoor deck (perfect for star gazing or sun bathing). Starlink internet service offers fast reliable internet for guests.Gumbo Limbo’s rates do not include the use of a golf cart. In order to keep our rental rates low, we are leaving the golf cart business to others who know how to best maintain and deliver this service. Guests can rent a golf cart from Barrier Island Carts (best rate), The Island Club, or Boats and Fun. North Captiva back to its “paradise” status, and, in some areas, is looking even better than pre-storm! The beaches are just spectacular! Beautiful white sand and clear sparkling waters teeming with amazing wildlife! Safety Harbor pool and tennis courts are in great shape and the Safety Harbor Club wharf and docks have been rebuilt. The Over The Waterfront restaurant is serving up delicious meals (reservations required) and is highly recommended! The Island Club pools are sparkling clean, heated and in use. Mangos poolside bar and grill are open and serving tasty food and drinks and the Island Market has fun merchandise, a coffee bar and ice cream shop to enjoy! The Island Club’s water taxi and Island Girl Charters are providing regular daily scheduled service to the island. Boats and Fun is renting golf carts and boats, and provides custom water taxi services.
