    Description

Cabin Creek Hide-Away (Letchworth) Waterfalls & Woods! This 100 Acre Forest Property is just 15 minutes from Letchworth State Park, and features a very secluded, rustic cabin hidden deep in the woods. With waterfalls and 100 acres of private forest, you can disappear here! No one will find you until you’re ready to come out!THE SPACE:The space is 100 Acres of private forest with several waterfalls on a cascading creek!UPDATE: In light of the current situation with this year’s strain of the flu virus (Corona), and the fear that seems to be spreading, we wanted to give you some assurances about your upcoming reservation at Cabin Creek. Terry and I thoroughly clean the cabin ourselves (No “Cleaning Staff”) in preparation for your arrival, treating ALL surfaces with anti-bacterial cleaners, including our mattress pad & pillow covers. We have always cleaned this way, and we really have the cleanest, safest, and most secure accommodations anywhere to be found. When you come to our 100 acre private forest, you and your party are the only ones there, so you don’t have to come in contact with anyone else. Your vacation stay here at Cabin Creek continues to offer what few other destinations can: No people, no corona virus, and no worries! Our off grid cabin is lit by old fashioned wax candle lamps for a soft, romantic glow, but also has convenient 12V solar powered lights. The LP gas fireplace is perfect for relaxing in the evening, getting cozy on the couch, or enjoying the view from the comfortable queen-size bed! The beauty of the forest streams in with the sunlight through the large bank of windows! Morning coffee & evening toddies are accompanied by the sound of birds singing in the woods, and everything tastes even better on the large covered deck, which is also perfect for grilling as the sun goes down! Even during a passing summer shower, the soft patter of raindrops on the tin roof is so peaceful! We love coming here to be alone, and we know you will too!LP gas powers the hot water, a cook stove, and 1/2 size refrigerator. The bathroom is complete with a natural composting toilet and hot shower. Bath, body wash & shampoo, percolating coffee pot, fully equipped kitchen, and a small library of outdoor & self-sufficiency books are provided. We have an outdoor fire ring w/firewood available for purchase for your outdoor camp fires. You can also get your own firewood from dead & down tops nearby. You can also check out our other cabin on the property using this travel site:”CABIN CREEK GET-AWAY.” It’s located one half-mile away, down at the mouth of Cabin Creek Ravine.Note: December 1 – April 10 is our Winter Wilderness Drop Camp Season. Depending on snow conditions, we cannot guarantee that you will be able to drive your vehicle closer than 1/2 mile to the cabin site due to snow depths & terrain. If the snow is too deep, we can take your luggage & supplies in and out for you with our machines, so you don’t have to pack everything in!. The breathtaking scenery of the winter snow on the high elevation hemlocks surrounding the cabin make the inconvenience of reaching this remote location well worth it! Come and discover just how much fun it is being snowed in with the one you love! There’s no place like it in the entire Northeast!Note: During our Winter Wilderness Drop Camp Season (December 1 – April 10), the cabin is dry, meaning that there is no running water in the cabin. Water is hauled in for you, with dispensers placed in the kitchen. A 12-volt powered camp shower is provided in the bathroom, and water is heated on the stove. Our composting toilet is unaffected by winter weather.Guests need to bring their own clean bedding to put over top of our fresh, clean pillow & mattress covers.(Note: 12V system will not power appliances such as hair dryers, TV’s, or electric coffee makers).GUEST ACCESS:Guests can drive in/drive out (Spring-Summer-Fall) to enjoy the hidden cabin, large covered deck, outside camp fires with wood provided, cascading creek & waterfalls, hiking trails, and abundant wildlife. Adventurers will enjoy going down the 100′ climbing rope to view the hidden water falls… the only way to find them! The Hide-Away itself is situated on a 20-acre high elevation plateau along the North rim of the Cabin Creek ravine. Relax & enjoy it all to yourself!Note: We do not accept “Assistance Animals” in our space due to a health condition of one of the hosts. Assistance animals create a health or safety hazard to us.INTERACTION WITH GUESTS:Upon arrival, guests will be greeted for an orientation to the cabin, the property, and attractions in the surrounding area, which include Letchworth State Park (The Grand Canyon of the East). Dave & Terry live on the farm down in the valley, just a mile away, so we are always available to respond to the needs of guests.THE NEIGHBORHOOD:The very best thing about the neighborhood is that there are no neighbors! The cabin is situated off a seasonal use road, at high elevation on top of a ridge. Aside from the occasional vehicle traveling the road, you won’t have contact with anyone who is not in your party! We deliver a wonderful semi-wilderness experience in a rugged area that is sparsely populated and seldom traveled. We have two ways to access the property, but you will travel on a gravel road either way.We like to joke that the Cabin Creek night-life is dominated by the wildlife… but that’s no joke! In addition to the ever-present squirrels, chip monks & racoon, it is very common to see deer and wild turkey in our forest. The yipping-howls of coyotes are commonly heard after dark while guests sit around the campfire, and seldom-seen bobcats can be heard calling in the night several times a year. Very rare pine martin have been spotted on the property, along with bald eagles & great horned owls. Bears do frequent our area, coming from the 7,700 acre wildlife management area across the valley. Believe us or not, during the 2015 deer season, Eastern Timber Wolves were observed passing by 2 different tree stands; their extreme size and long, low howls heard along the base of the ridge made us confident they were definitely not coyotes! So if you’re looking for an experience in a wild area… this is as wild as it gets in the entire Northeast!FUN ACTIVITIES:100 foot climbing rope descending to hidden water falls (On your own)..22 caliber handgun & rifle instruction & target shooting by appointment.Canoe rentals & river float trips by appointment.Guided hikes/mountain biking to beaver ponds & hanging bog by appointment.Hot Air Ballooning over Letchworth Park (Outside Vendor)White Water Rafting in Letchworth Park (Outside Vendor)Fishing at Nearby Wildlife Management Area (On your own).IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE:Location!
