WELCOME TO THE KINGFISHER PROPERTIES CEDAR LOG CABIN IN SEAL COVE, MAINE! Thank you for your patience–we’re now booking for 2024. Most of our bookings are 6 days, from Monday arrival to Sunday departure. The cabin is a good fit for 2-5 people. The open dates as of May 7, 2024 are:May 6-13May 27-Jun 6July 8-14July 14-19 (five nights only)Aug 5-10 (5 nights only)Aug 19-25Sep 16-26Oct 7-16Oct 20-25 (5 nights only)Oct 28-Nov 7Nov 25-Dec 1The 24′ by 36′ cedar log cabin was built in 1989 by three generations of the Grant family. Living quarters consist of a living and dining area with a fully equipped kitchen; a modern bath with hot water, shower/tub, water-saving toilet, sink, and towel closet; 3 bedrooms known by their respective birds on each door:1) the Baltimore Oriole room has two single beds, a chair, bookshelves, and closet2) the Cedar Waxwing room has a queen bed, chair, bureau, closet3) the Hermit Thrush room has one single bed, a chair, small desk, closet.Surrounding the cabin are 5 acres of wooded trails, salt-water frontage on a tidal cove, 7 kayaks, paddles and life vests available for use. Also on the property is a main lodge which serves as the setting for guests staying at The Alcyon Center, a small teaching and retreat center. The lodge and the cabin are separated by a wooded ravine and stream which can be crossed via steps and a bridge. Our Black Crow cabin (14×16) serves as a nearby small hermitage, with full attached bath with shower, sink and toilet. At the bottom of the driveway next to the salt-water cove are a 16′ screened gazebo and a composting toilet in a cedar hut.We are less than a mile from one entrance to land in Acadia National Park. You will find that the Park owns property in many different areas of Mount Desert Island. When you are in the cabin at Seal Cove, you are not more than 25 minutes from any part of the park on this Island.Cell phone reception in Seal Cove is very limited. The land phone at the cabin is: 207.244.0274. There is no TV, microwave, dishwasher, or computer in the cabin. If you need access to the internet, there are many cafes and libraries nearby, and in case of emergency the main lodge has a wireless network on the premises.There is no smoking in any facility here or on the property.Pets are allowed provided you clean up after your pet outside and inside the facilities. Pets are required to be on a leash in Acadia National Park.Winter use: The cabin roof is insulated, the floor is on a frostwall foundation. Propane Rinnai heater, small woodstove with wood provided, and small electric baseboard heaters in the smaller rooms. We ask that you turn off the heaters when you are not in the rooms. Shovels are provided. Plowing provided for driveway snow removal. Snow clearing for paths and entrances provided when possible.We are now accepting inquiries about 2024.
