Description
Before mid-century modern architecture became the Palm Springs norm, Spanish Colonial Revival was prevalent in Palm Springs and elsewhere in Southern California. The style is a melding of Spanish Baroque, Italian, Mexican and Moorish influences blended with the adobe building traditions of Native Americans. Primarily built In the 1930’s, the homes feature red clay tile roofs, adobe walls, white stucco finish, wood-beamed ceilings, arched doorways, painted brick walls along with wrought iron embellishments and motor courts.Built in 1935, Casa De Estrella is an authentic Spanish Colonial Revival that was lovingly restored by JS Design, Hermosa Beach. For the homeowner, the restoration was a journey to create a peaceful sanctuary, a step back in time and a respite from their daily chaos. They endeavored to keep the character of the home intact during every step of the restoration, preserving many of the original light fixtures, cabinetry and hardware. The 2,608 sq ft home features 3 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, a formal entry, stylish kitchen with updated appliances, butler pantry, formal living room with fireplace, dining room that seats six, spacious den with a Queen sofa sleeper plus a sunroom with wet bar. All three bedroom suites have King-size beds and ensuite bathrooms.Casa De Estrella is situated on a third of an acre corner lot that boasts panoramic mountain views and is located in the historic Palm Springs neighborhood of Old Las Palmas. This upscale community is walking distance to the shops, restaurants and art galleries of both the Uptown Design District and downtown Palm Springs. The grounds are fully walled, have privacy hedges and feature resort amenities including a pool with cascading spa, two fire pits, six chaise lounge chairs, Bocce Ball Court, ping pong table and even a pool bathroom. A unique feature of Casa De Estrella is its stand-alone covered patio that features alfresco dining for eight, a hammock, an L-shaped sofa, two ceiling fans, ambient lighting plus stunning West-facing mountain views. There is also a four-car private garage and a large driveway. The Master bedroom features a King-size bed, eight-drawer dresser, ensuite bathroom, large closet, ceiling fan, 40″ TV and mountain view. The ensuite bathroom has a walk-in shower. The two guest bedrooms each feature King-size beds, ensuite bathrooms, 40″ TVs, dressers, ceiling fans and lots of windows that fill the rooms with natural light. One of the ensuites has a walk-in shower while the other has a tub/shower combo. This is where I usually describe the living room. While Casa De Estrella has an extraordinary living room, it’s the two very spacious bonus rooms that offer guests the extra space you won’t find in most vacation rentals. The sunroom overlooks the pool, spa, fire pit and covered patio through a wall of windows that allows natural light to stream in and illuminate the entire space. On one side of the room is a casual sitting area with four chairs and a coffee table. On the other side is a rustic wet bar with beverage refrigerator and five bar stools. Like the sunroom, the den features a wall of windows. Through them are panoramic mountain views. Its seating area consists of a Queen-size sofa sleeper, coffee table and side chair. There is also a full bathroom with tub/shower combo. The living room is rustic, warm and comfortable and includes saltillo tile floors, a pitched wood ceiling and a cozy fireplace. The couch and side chairs can accommodate six people in front of a 65″ TV. There is even a piano. The adjacent formal dining room comfortably seats six and is conveniently located next to the butler’s pantry and full kitchen. The kitchen has white quartz countertops, stainless steel appliances, and a classic black and white floor design. It’s also incredibly well stocked for the gourmet cook. It features a 6-burner stove, oven, microwave, drip coffee maker, dishwasher, and refrigerator/freezer.Casa De Estrella is located in the desirable neighborhood of Old Las Palmas. From the backyard, you will enjoy mountain views to your South and West. A four-car garage with 220V EV Receptical, washer/dryer and WiFi distance complete this authentic Spanish colonial revival luxury vacation home. The City of Palm Springs ID# 4553
