Description
Located on the center peninsula of Blair’s Bay, you will discover this charming turn-of-the-century Adirondack summer house (built in 1913) in the historic Glenburnie community. The first thing you will notice upon arrival is the fresh, cool mountain air, scented with pine. Look around…..you will be mesmerized by the magnificent lake views. The first floor of the house features a large living room with stone fireplace/wood stove; small bedroom; dining room; eat-in kitchen; full spa-like bath and outdoor shower. There are two porches — one off the kitchen, with a gas grill; another off the living room, with living and dining areas, and a stone fireplace. On the second floor there are three master bedrooms; plus a “glamping-style” sleeping porch with twin beds; two single bedrooms; and two full baths.Explore the property, with its expansive lawns and old stone walls, terraced down to the water’s edge. You might see the Great Blue Heron, who stops by on a daily basis to sun and fish off the rocks. Porcupines, beavers, many chipmunks, and a multitude of birds call this property their home as well. There is an abundance of natural beauty, off the beaten path and removed from the road and traffic.A typical day might begin with a before-breakfast plunge into the deep, clear water in front of the house. Next, you could hike up Record Mountain for the exercise and spectacular views. You’ll need another swim, and you will certainly work up an appetite for an “al fresco” lunch on the porch. Afternoon boating, water-skiing and tubing, and maybe some fishing, add to your perfect “Lake George Day.”Wind down with a quiet kayak journey across the bay, before evening cocktails on the porch, and a backyard barbecue. For those who enjoy lawn games, we have badminton, croquet and horseshoes. Gather around the dining room table, which is identical to the one Georgia O’Keefe and Alfred Stieglitz had in their Bolton Landing home, while enjoying farm-fresh produce and home-cooked meals.Nightfall presents a spectacular jeweled sky, with the brightest stars you have ever seen. Relax on the Adirondack chairs by the lakeside fire pit, making s’mores and singing campfire songs. There are board games, puzzles, cards and books (and satellite television for those who can’t live without it!) If interested, a Reiki Master is available for house calls, to add to your ultimate getaway experience. This house is the ideal retreat for families, groups, and active nature lovers looking for total R&R in a secluded setting.Contact owner for more details regarding boat dockage cost and rental.
