Description
Water views! Newly Renovated – The Barn at Mystic River.Sip your coffee as you watch Mystic River come to life. Just a mile from downtown, The Barn offers a special setting for a getaway. Named for its past life as a carriage barn built in 1908, this spacious one bedroom apartment has been totally renovated to highlight the water views from the covered porch, fully-equipped kitchen and spacious dining area. The open concept layout moves from the dining area to a comfortable living room where you can curl up with a good book, or catch up on Netflix! And then to the all-new bathroom and bedroom which includes a luxurious California king bed. The River Road location can’t be beat. Relax and recharge as you take in the unique river scenery, or enjoy a stroll along one of the most loved scenic byways in the area. Follow the river right to downtown Mystic where you can experience the magic of the holidays in this quaint seaside town. Check out our one-of-a kind shops, superb restaurant scene, the historic drawbridge, Mystic Arts Center, and, of course, don’ miss the infamous Mystic Pizza. A short drive takes you to Mystic Seaport, Old Mistik Village, Mystic Aquarium, Stonington Borough, Coast Guard Academy, Connecticut College, Naval Submarine Base and Museum, the Mashantucket and Eastern Pequot tribal casinos (and their fabulous museum), — and so much more.More details:The Barn, with wide river views to Mystic Seaport and beyond, offers an easy, engaging one mile walk south along the Mystic River to the heart of the Historic District and another quarter mile to downtown Mystic. There is a kayak launch just 1/10th mile north of the property. The Barn is just uphill from the main house on two-acres. You are welcome to enjoy the waterfront seating and picnic tables during the day – when not in use by owners. (The dock is shared, so is not available to guests.)There are three entrances – up historic stone steps to the “front door” which opens into the main room or up to the covered porch which leads through wide glass doors to the kitchen or up the long driveway right to another set of wide “on-grade” glass doors. There is also a dedicated on-site parking space. Throughout, upside-Down light filtering cellular shades provide exactly your degree of privacy while allowing in light and view. Flooring is ceramic tile with area rugs. The kitchen: Just renovated, the kitchen is well equipped with all you need to comfortably prepare meals. Quartz counters top white shaker cabinets and stainless steel appliances (glass-topped range, oven, microwave & dishwasher). Service for eight dishes, flatware, glassware, wine glasses plus assorted pots and pans, cooking utensils, myriad storage containers, even herbs and spices. Plus you have a large river-view window and a small table and chairs to enjoy it – and a convenient breakfast bar with counter stools – a favorite place to work.Living room/Dining Area: A comfy sofa, upholstered chair and two “pull-up” chairs front a large entertainment center that holds a 60 inch TV with internet access (local channels and ready for your own NetFlix, Prime, etc.). The dining area features an oval pedestal table, four upholstered chairs and a sideboard with candlesticks, and an assortment of tea lights and baskets.Bedroom: The bedroom includes a California King bed with antique brass and white headboard and deep, quality mattress flanked by night stands with lamps. The closet is fitted with hanging rods, shelves and drawers. An additional chest of drawers completes the room.Bathroom: Everything is new here as well! A spacious walk-in shower stall with rain and hand-held sprays, a vanity, toilet and GE stacked washer-dryer units. Shelves hold lux towels, and the vanity houses toiletries, disinfecting wipes, hand soap, laundry detergent, dryer sheets and a hair dryer. And of course there is reliable heat, A/C, good Wi-Fi as well as a printer and ADT security system. Plus an iron, ironing board, broom, dustpan, vacuum and swifter.Caveats: There is some road noise from I-95 which is not noticeable in the interior living areas but we do provide a white noise machine in the bedroom for those who are especially sensitive. Also, we regret that we cannot accommodate children or pets. There is no smoking of any kind allowed anywhere on the property; and we ask that guests observe quiet(er) hours beginning at 10 PM.
