Cottage At Goose Marsh Pond near Acadia on the ‘Quietside’Located in the village of Pretty Marsh, our Post and Beam cottage looks across the sloping grassy field to Goose Marsh Pond, the salt water inlet that flows into Squid Cove on the western side of Mount Desert Island. This pastoral site, often teeming with wildlife, offers a quiet, cozy and peaceful spot to recharge after a day exploring Acadia National Park and MDI.Pretty Marsh is on the western side, the “Quietside,” of Mount Desert Island. The cottage has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The dining room has a wonderful view of the water, fields and the neighboring apple orchard. We also have a fully screened “Tea House” in the back yard to enjoy a mosquito-free outside experience.Acadia National Park is spread out over many parts of Mount Desert Island. The ocean and freshwater ponds are close by for swimming, canoeing and kayaking. ANP’s 50 miles of fine gravel carriage roads are renowned for walking, running and biking, and wonderful mountain and seashore trails are short drives away. The town of Southwest Harbor, a charming village with a fine foods market, restaurants, coffee shops, a bike shop, library, art galleries and shopping is a 15 minute drive. The eastern side of MDI (Bar Harbor) where you can find many restaurants, shops, theaters … and hustle & bustle, is a 20 minute drive.
