Description

Nestled amongst the live oaks between the sand dunes and the Pawleys Island creek for more than 175 years, End of the Rainbow is located in the Pawleys Island Historic District on Myrtle Avenue near the Pelican Inn. So named because when the current owners first crossed over the causeway onto the island to view the home, there was a Rainbow over the ocean which appeared to end at the property, End of the Rainbow has been owned by the same family since 1960. The home has not been offered for rent in over 40 years. Unique features include original floorboards, high ceilings, south facing dormer windows, expansive porches and a large lot secluded from other surrounding homes by live oaks full of birds and Spanish moss. Once the Summer Parsonage/ Rectory and site of summer church services for local All Saints Episcopal Church, benches which served as pews with hundred-year old carved initials from the congregation still line the side porch. The house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. While spending time here, take in the sunset every evening from the creek dock, the “sunset porch” rocking chairs at the house, or the second story of the lookout on the beach. Sunrise is also beautiful from the second story lookout, and nightly star-gazing from up high is not to be missed! Enjoy meals around the large picnic table on the screened porch with comfortable seating for 12, or seated at the antique round table in the dining room with an amazing 48 inch round lazy susan. Swim in the ocean, walk on the beach, fish in the surf or from the dock, build sand castles, catch crabs, have a creek float or read for hours on end in one of the many rocking chairs. With 6 total bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms, as well as a spacious living room, large screened-in porch and an open porch the length of the home, there is plenty of space to relax, congregate and enjoy the breezes and peaceful sounds of the ocean together! Five bedrooms are located in the main house, and a one-bedroom suite with flat screen TV and full bathroom is conveniently located on the ground floor of a separate house (the “treehouse”) on the property. Near the beach, there are also two outdoor showers, one open and one enclosed, with both hot and cold water.Amenities include a two-story lookout on the beach, a covered creek dock with crabbing platform and Jon boat parking, crabbing equipment, hammock, kayaks, Spike Ball, bocce ball, tiki toss, assorted rafts, cornhole set, boogie boards and beach toys, plenty of puzzles, board games, cards and books for all ages, a foosball table, wifi/cable, full size washer/dryer, ice maker, ice cream freezer, wine fridge, flat screen TV in the living room, charcoal grill, gas grill and an outdoor burner and boiler kit ideal for seafood boils. The kitchen is fully equipped and boasts freshly painted walls, cabinets and a new refrigerator, wine refrigerator, sink and faucet.
