    Description

Fabulous waterfront property on Buttermilk Bay in Buzzards Bay / Upper Cape Cod. We call our home The Buttermilk Bungalow.Style, comfort, nature, beauty, relaxation, and uniqueness were the inspirations behind The Buttermilk Bungalow. The home and landscape have been re-designed under the guidance of one of Boston’s top designers. Modern, whimsical, and Cape Cod focused style and comfort will make anyone who appreciates design smile. The waterfront views are stunning! Whether you are having your morning coffee in the kitchen, checking email in the office, outside on the furnished deck, grilling your favorite meal, or sitting in one of the Adirondacks down at the water’s edge, you will have a breathtaking scene to enjoy. The seasonal sunsets may rival the best you’ve seen on any vacation. Relax around the sunken fire pit while the sun disappears behind the bay.Spring and Summer fauna provide near perfect privacy in the bayside yard.Ospreys, great blue herons, hawks, and egrets all play and catch their meals in eyes’ view of your favorite place to sit – in or outside. Fiddler crabs scurry into their homes as you walk along the water.Take a trip to the middle of Buttermilk Bay, or to a beach, or sandbar, on one of the provided kayaks.Painters, photographers, birdwatchers, and nature lovers will appreciate the landscape and wildlife in and around Buttermilk Bungalow.****OFF SEASON GUESTS PLEASE READ: Kayaks, outdoor furniture (including deck lounge), outdoor shower water, and grill are usually decommissioned for the winter sometime in early November. They will remain in storage until March. Scroll down to…. Things to know -> House Rules -> Show more-> Scroll to “GUESTS TRAVELING WITH INFANTS OR TODDLERS” towards the bottom. We may be able to offer some amenities (pack n play, high chair, etc.). However, we kindly ask that you reach out to us via the app to discuss.NO PETS Policy:Unfortunately, we do not allow pets :/ We have a dog of our own but soon discovered that our trips to The Buttermilk Bungalow were less relaxing as we were worried about the furniture, floors, rugs, and the non-fenced-in yard. Our dog enjoys (and he is picky!) stays at the close-by and affordable Animal Inn (Sandwich, MA).The entire home (excluding the basement) is accessible to guests. Additionally, the deck, yard, and waterfront are for guests to enjoy. Walking along the reeds/water towards the small boat launch is permitted (you may want to launch the kayaks from this location)Please reach out to us if you need anything or have questions about the space, things to do, etc. We (or sometimes hired professionals) maintain the property. If routine maintenance is scheduled during your stay, we will give you a heads up before arrival. Generally we, or these professionals, only need access to the outside space and/or basement. If you discover something in the home requires maintenance we will promptly schedule someone (or ourselves) and let you know when they will arrive.Quiet neighborhood. Close to downtown Buzzards Bay, Cranberry Highway, Cape Canal, and Bourne Bridge. Anything you might need is a very close drive from the home. There are activities (swimming, hiking, etc.) in walking distance. Sidewalks are limited so please be VERY careful when walking to these locations. Beaches, shopping, site-seeing, restaurants, entertainment, Cape destinations all within a short drive. We are hands on and responsive hosts. We want you to enjoy your vacation in peace. However, if you have any questions, preferences, or special requirements, we will respond in a timely manner and do whatever we can to accommodate you. We want this vacation / visit to be amazing!Waterfront Oasis – Buttermilk BayDesigner Cape Cod RetreatScenic Beauty & RelaxationStunning Sunsets Over Buttermilk BayNature-Lover’s ParadiseKayaking Haven on Cape CodWhimsical & Modern DesignTranquil Waterside GetawayPrime Location in Buzzards BayLuxury Beds & BeddingHigh-End Interior FurnishingsBreathtaking Waterfront ViewsPrivate Outdoor Fire PitFully Equipped Designer KitchenOutdoor Living – Adirondack Chairs & DeckFurnished Deck with Bay ViewsOutdoor Grill & Sunken Fire PitFamily-Friendly Stay (Child-sized kayaks)Close to Buzzards Bay AttractionsResponsive & Attentive HostsOn Tuesday mornings (or Monday evenings) please bring trash and recycling out to the curb. Please return the empty receptacles to the lower driveway ASAP to prevent the wind from blowing them down the street. Please dispose of food items in the receptacles. Food in the yard or the seagrass/bay will attract pests :/Please use PAPER TOWELS or DISH TOWELS for spills or meal cleanup. We’ve invested in high-end bath and beach towels for you to enjoy. We kindly ask to not use these towels for spills or cleanup.PLEASE BE MINDFUL OF THE SEPTIC. The system is the last line of defense between waste and the beautiful environment of Buttermilk Bay. Flushing ANYTHING other than toilet paper will jeopardize the system. Additionally, while there is a food disposal in the kitchen sink (odd for a home with a septic but that’s how it came!) we encourage you to use the sink trap to capture food waste and then empty into the trash. If small food waste ends up in the drain/disposal you may run the disposal. We have a magnetized safety cover on the disposal switch to minimize the chance of accidentally running the disposal. However, it allows you to do so if needed. The WIND CAN BE VERY STRONG. You should always close the umbrella on the deck unless you are using it.No candles or any other open flames permitted in the home. (See safety section below for info on lighting during power outages). No parties (modest sized gatherings of close friends and family are encouraged). When enjoying the space down by the water/fire pit, we prefer you use the plastic glassware. The Adirondack chairs are great, but if you place a drink down on the arm rest, it will more than likely slide down and fall (we’ve learned the hard way!).Be thoughtful of neighbors who may need to work in the morning, or vacationers that are also enjoying the nature and peace of Buttermilk Bay.If utilizing the AC or heat in the home, please make sure the windows/doors are closed. This will minimize energy waste. The blue cast iron pan is a special item to us – If you use this pan, PLEASE HAND WASH WITHOUT SOAP. Wipe surface of still-warm skillet with paper towels to remove any food and oil. Rinse under hot water, scrubbing with nonmetal brush or nonabrasive pad to remove any traces of food. Dry skillet thoroughly (do not drip-dry), heat over medium-low heat until all traces of moisture have evaporated. Add 1/2 teaspoon oil to pan and use paper towels to lightly coat interior surface with oil. Continue to wipe surface with oiled paper towels until it looks dark and smooth, and no oil residue remains. Let pan cool completely.Promptly alert hosts of any concerns/issues that arise during your stay. We prefer to address any matters as quickly as possible to make your stay wonderful. We’ve invested in high-end furniture, rugs, linens, etc. If something is damaged or stained (we get it, stuff happens!) please let us know ASAP. The sooner we can assess the issue the better chance we have of minimizing the extent of the damage. To give us ample time to clean/landscape/prepare for our next guests, we ask guests to check out at 11AM. Our marvelous cleaning crew often arrive at 11AM to begin the “flip” process. Thank you in advance for your cooperation here. It is very helpful
