Description

Welcome! Our home is on the Saco River and surrounded by three mountains. The house is on a (really) quiet, dead-end, private road (10 mph speed limit) on which only a few cars travel. Rush hour is two cars crossing. Happens a couple of times a week. The house has three bedrooms and two bathrooms:- The Master bedroom graced with a queen bed and an attached bathroom. The room looks out onto the river.- The second bedroom also has a queen bed, and looks out to a mountain.- The third bedroom looks out to the mountain as well. It has two twin beds and a spare twin memory foam mattress stored under one of the beds.In total, the house sleeps 7 in 3 bed rooms. There is a comfortable couch in the living room in a pinch and a twin pull-out sofa. The kitchen is fully equipped. This house is literally home, so we stock it to live in, not pass through. We keep adding tools at random – the most recent was a potato masher. D’oh. How could we have forgotten that? Recently, one of our daughters castigated us for omitting a meat mallet. We replied that it was out of consideration for her husband. Not really, but she left herself open to that, don’t you think? Our deck overlooks the river. We have air conditioning and heat (in case the AC is too cold). But the best part of summer is being able to open the windows and let the fresh air in (yes, fresh air), and listen to the river rushing by. The Saco is beautiful. Clear as a bell. (In the winter one of us likes to crank up the heat, open the doors and listen to the river as he writes. You can imagine what She has to say about that. No meat mallet…Our house was built by a gentleman who is 6′ 4″ tall, so all the doorways are tall and the ceilings high. The basement ceiling is beyond reach of us shorter people. The attached garage is huge. Brenda has been eyeing it for her workbench and tools (she has more power tools than most men AND knows how to use them all), but I am resisting on your behalf; I don’t know how long I can hold her off. She’s strong – she’s a woman after all.We have WiFi, a library of about 200 DVDs, tons of books, and quite a few games and toys. Prime Video, Netflix as well. The TV is big. But come on, do you really want to watch TV in the White Mountains?IF you need to work, our WiFi is great – we often have four family members working remotely at the same time, (a couple of them crunching massive amounts of data). And two to four others streaming at the same time. They haven’t noticed any lags.We provide all linens, a lot of towels, etc. We wash all of them of course, but also the duvet covers and shams. We are near (15-20 minutes) Storyland, North Conway outlets, Attitash skiing and zip lining, and the White Mountain National Forest. About 20 minutes from the Washington Hotel – a truly posh place to enjoy a drink or a meal. Not to mention Bretton Woods, the largest skiing facility in New England. Hikes galore , as well.We highly recommend you stow your cell phones and just listen to the river. It’ll wash away your stress just as it does ours. Grab a plastic wine glass or cup, sit on the big rocks in the river and have a beer or whatever. Maybe a snack or two. It is wonderful. Really. We keep our house CLEAN. We stock each bathroom and kitchen with cleaning materials because one of us gets distracted on his way from one place to another searching for stuff. He’s like a little kid that way. Paper towels, tissues, and toilet paper provided, of course. Plenty of spare rolls of toilet paper in each bathroom. And we leave you a new, wrapped sponge (don’t you hate someone else’s used one?).Do drop us a line. We’ll be happy to tell you more! Meanwhile, we wish you the best of health.Brenda and Ajith
