Description
Paper Moon is a lovely log cabin nestled among oaks and elms in the quiet countryside, just 1.5 miles from downtown Wimberley. You’ll cross a scenic low water crossing over Pierce Creek, a wet-weather creek that runs through the front of the property, as you drive in. This spacious cabin was lovingly hand-built in 1985, and has been recently renovated by the current owners while retaining its rustic charm.Paper Moon is ideal for family and friend gatherings as well as romantic escapes. Shopping and dining in Wimberley is only 5 minutes away, or you can just stay at the cabin and watch the deer graze as you enjoy your morning coffee from the porch, have a family BBQ on the covered deck, enjoy the hot tub and fire pit, or snuggle up by the fireplace. This charming log home with 3 bedrooms (2 private, 1 loft) and two bathrooms features a hot tub, outdoor seating, a fire pit, a large covered deck, charcoal grill and hammock. The name Paper Moon comes from a popular portrait fad that began in the late 19th century. It was an inexpensive and fun way to have one’s portrait taken and paper moon booths were often set up at fairs and carnivals. We enjoy these vintage portraits which often depict folks with big grins having a good time, unlike traditional portraits of the time. As you meander from room to room in our charming cabin you’ll find vintage paper moon photos hanging on the walls, including some sent in by previous guests. This eco-conscious cabin offers: recycling, eco-friendly soaps, detergents & cleaning products, recycled premium paper products and a reverse-osmosis drinking water system (no need for plastic bottles).Pet policy:Up to two friendly, leashed pets are welcome. Our pet fee is $50/pet. Please crate pets that are left alone. If you have more than two pets, please discuss before booking. Please note: the water at the Pierce Creek low water crossing is designed to gently flow over the road, however, the water can rise during periods of extremely heavy rain so please use good judgment before crossing. This generally doesn’t happen more than a couple of times a year, and we find that it typically recedes to a normal level within an hour or two of the rain stopping. We’re always happy to pop over and take a look if you’re unsure about the water level.
