Description

Camden has recently been voted one of America’s 20 most beautiful towns! Please read the entire description before you book your stay. This is our home. We have worked with VRBO for many years and continue to fulfill their requirements for your comfort carefully. When you write a review, please remember to tell your readers about Camden, and give details about the many shops and restaurants as well as beaches, hikes, and walks. There is so much to see and do here, and so many beautiful towns to visit, Belfast, Rockport, Rockland, Warren, and Thomaston. Our village home is a stone’s throw from Penobscot Bay. Everything is within walking distance. It is a perfect retreat for one or two couples. In this way, each couple has a whole floor of privacy and can spread out, read, watch TV, or just enjoy the view from the third-floor sitting room. There are stairs. It is a three-story house. If you are using a cane or any other device, it may be too much for you. There is no downstairs bedroom. Be sure to read all descriptions. You have everything you need to make you comfortable but it is not a hotel. It is a private home.Pour your coffee in the morning and wander down to see the tall ships sail away and enjoy scenes of active harbor life. Then, enjoy our famous library or have a walk down Main Street to enjoy small local shops and cafes that are a part of the fabric of the town. If you are a walker, go straight down Chestnut St. and you will end up at Aldermere Farm and Rockport Harbor, or hike up to Mt. Beatty which is straight up the street behind us. Life in Camden is, truly, where the mountains meet the sea. All is within a few minute’s walk. The main floor has a fully stocked kitchen, a dining room with a fireplace, and a cozy living room, with TV access. On the second floor, there is a large bedroom, with a queen-sized bed and a bathroom with a walk in shower, adjacent. There is one large cabinet for folded clothes. The cabinet is marked with a ribbon. The third floor is a light, airy space with a queen-sized bed, a large wet room shower/bathroom and a lovely sitting room with a bay window overlooking Mt. Beatty. There is a cabinet for your clothes and a hanging closet. Both are marked with a ribbon. The third floor is completely private. It is almost its apartment.Outside the kitchen door are a private patio with a charcoal barbecue and a table so that you can spend time relaxing in the fresh air while enjoying the sounds of birds and cool breezes that waft through the passage. The two rockers on the porch allow for a tea time or a space for listening to music or reading a book. This village life of Camden is only moments from our side porch. The charm of the house is its proximity to everything and yet, has a peaceful ambiance and privacy that are not easy to find. (We would recommend Buttermilk or the Deli for breakfast, and the Waterfront, Natalie’s, the rooftop bar at the Bay View Hotel, 40 Paper, Fresh, Barron’s Distillery for dinner or in Rockport, Nina June’s, and 18 Oyster.Walk to Laite Beach, be a part of a friendly neighborhood, or walk to a great grocery store and live for days without getting in the car. PS. Don’t miss the Stop and Go if you like beer. The owner is one the most respected beer connoisseurs in the state of Maine!Camden is a beautiful village. Kindly, remember that summer is a busy season and we are in the center of it. You may hear some cars, children laughing, and the general presence of life in a small town.Dave and I live in a small apartment on the property, should you need anything, we are here to help you. Our goal is that you have a lovely holiday.Every season is magical: the long evenings of summer are glorious, incomparable autumn colors, snow fall for the holidays, and the flowers of spring. You may check in at 3PM and check out is at 10AM.as described by one of our guests…My family and I stayed in this home for two weeks this past summer, and it is the most ideal house in the most perfect location. We adored it! We have traveled extensively in the US and throughout Europe, but this is at the top of the list of where we want to return. The house is utterly charming–so comfortable, fully renovated, completely equipped kitchen, the ideal place to come “home” to each and every day. It is perfectly situated at the edge of town–we started each morning with a stroll past the harbor to the local bakery, returning to the house to dine al fresco on the side terrace. Ah, I wish I were there now! The third floor of this home is a special treat–a tree house of an attic garret, full of light, the perfect place to read a book or gaze at the stars through the skylights. Be sure to enjoy hot chocolate in front of the fire in the living room on a cold morning, a glass of wine in the rocking chairs on the porch, and interesting conversation around the table in the fascinating dining room. The town itself is a dream–gorgeous white wooden houses, a perfect Main Street stretched along a harbor filled with wooden schooners, fun shops, delicious dining, a terrific library, overflowing window boxes…just walking through town is a treat in itself, and this house is truly in the ideal spot. Everything is within walking distance! The locals are so friendly–the people at the corner grocery store knew us by the end of our stay, and when my daughter needed ginger for the cookies she was baking, she just traipsed down to her favorite bakery in town and they happily gave her some!! Camden truly is what you picture when you think “idyllic New England town.” And there’s so much to do nearby–hiking, boating, swimming in the lake, eating lobsters at a lobster pound right on the water, canoeing and kayaking, beautiful gardens, interesting art galleries…I truly cannot say enough. Camden–and this house–have become our new favorites!!!! You can’t go wrong, and will truly feel lucky to have stayed here. When rating your stay, please consider Short-Term Rentals Rating Scales are different than traditional hotel star rating systems.Vacational Rental Platforms considers anything below a 4.6 as negativeWe always strive to give our guests a 5-star experience.
