Description

$295/night off-season (3 night min); $345/night in season (7 night min) Blocked dates may be released (ask if interested). This classic Keuka Lake cottage was built by our family in the 1920’s and we have lovingly enjoyed it ever since. Titled “The View Alone,” this lakefront property sits on the east side of Keuka providing one of the loveliest lake views of Bluff Point at the widest part of the lake. This stretch of Crystal Beach faces north so you can enjoy both the sunset and the sunrise. The property is level and the beachfront gently sloping – making it easy to access and a great place for children to play in the shallow waters. The backyard offers additional play options and the private lower lake road is flat for easy biking or pushing a stroller. Parking can accommodate up to three cars and is close to the entry door that has two steps. A short path by the side of the cottage takes you to the lake with four steps to the beach. The location between Hammondsport and Penn Yan offers easy access to shopping, restaurants, and wineries; a couple of wineries are even within walking distance. On the back roads you can reach Watkins Glen in half an hour to visit the gorgeous glen at Watkins Glen State Park. For those wanting to explore more of the area, we are forty minutes from the world class Corning Museum of Glass, or an hour from the Women’s Rights National Historic Park in Seneca Falls. In addition to its prime location, the 100-year-old cottage itself is cozy and charming. We have many guests who return year after year. Everyone’s favorite room is the enclosed porch with expansive lake views, a dining area for six, and a sitting area with a comfortable sofa, armchairs, footrest, and two antique rocking chairs. Sliding glass doors from the porch take you down eight steps to the outdoor deck, then four more steps to the beach level.Guests also frequently comment on the functional kitchen that is well-equipped by family cooks. It includes a stove/oven, microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher, and basic cooking supplies. This portion of the lake does not have municipal water or sewers. We have a lakeshore well and filters, but no water treatment so we provide gallons of spring water for drinking and cooking. The cottage is laid out around a central living room that is an ideal place to curl up with a book or watch TV or movies. Our TV service provides access to multiple channels through Spectrum TV and the Roku Channel, or you can use your own streaming service. A DVD player can be used to enjoy movies provided along with books and games for your use. A full-sized desk in the separate office space is available for those needing to put in some remote work time. We provide wireless Internet service from Spectrum.Three sleeping rooms and two full baths fan out from the living room. Two of the bedrooms have queen-sized beds and share access into the full bathroom with a tub/shower combo and washer and dryer. The third bedroom has a full-sized bed. The second bathroom is off the entry hall, with a small walk-in shower stall.Central air conditioning provides comfort on the hottest summer days, and a gas furnace keeps the cottage cozy for spring and fall visits.A seasonal dock (June-September) provides a place to sit in the sun or fish. The dock is lightweight so it may be used to load/offload passengers but not to secure watercraft overnight or for any length of time. (Storms arise quickly and we want to avoid wind or wave damage to your boat or our dock.)On the beach there is a fire pit with a small supply of firewood and a Weber charcoal grill. The basement entered from the deck contains outdoor cushions for the deck furniture, folding beach chairs, some water toys, and oars for the classic rowboat provided for your use.House Rules** By booking you agree to comply with our request that the renting party is over the age of 25.** Maximum occupancy is four** No parties or gatherings larger than four people at any time without prior permission.** No pets or animals allowed on the property at any time.** Smoking is prohibited anywhere on the property.** No littering. Beginning in 2024 we are managing it ourselves rather than through a property manager. We therefore have a new listing and have “lost” all our posted reviews on other sites, so we quote a few below that we think accurately describe its appeal. We treasure our many returning guests and are grateful for those who care for our much- loved family place as if it were their own. We look forward to hosting more new guests and welcome any questions you may have. We live close by in another cottage May-October so do our best to respond quickly to any concerns that arise.”It is a very clean and comfortable cottage well equipped with kitchen supplies, comfortable beds and lots of towels and pillows. Unfortunately, we had a cool and rainy weekend so we didn’t take advantage of the outdoor amenities. Great location between Penn Yan and Hammondsport, near the Switzerland Inn and Ravines, Weis and Domaine Leseurre wineries. The view of the Bluff is spectacular. Would stay there again!” ~ Sue M., September 2023″The cottage is a wonderful combination of a great old cottage with lots of new updates that count. Great appliances. Central air-conditioning. All furnishings are in great condition. Everything you need for a vacation rental. Kitchen is fully stocked with cookware and serving ware that are in great condition. The place was immaculate on check-in, four years in a row. And it’s called “The View Alone” which is true. Terrific location on a spectacular lake. Water is shallow in this area, so it’s great for kids and hanging out. The front porch is a great place for hanging out and eating right on the lake.” ~ Chris, July 2023″I’ve been coming to Keuka 32 years, and I have stayed at every part of the lake. You can’t beat this place. We loved every single part of this stay. The view is perfect. The house is ADORABLE (perfect cottage decor). You can tell that this place is loved by its owners and dearly cared for… every detail is crisp, clean and perfect. The decor is lovely. The neighborhood is so cute. Everyone I know wants to rent this home now, but I’m trying to get the booking first!!” ~ Erica, July 2023″Lovely property right on the lake. If you’re looking for a new modern home, this isn’t it. But it’s been well taken care of with an awesome lakeside setting.” ~ Mike D., October 2022″We have rented this cottage for three years now. It’s perfect for us. The view is amazing with the gorgeous sunrises and sunsets. The kitchen has everything you could want. The fishing is great. My husband caught six trout, a bass, a perch and a pike. My daughter rowed the boat across the lake every morning. We had a wonderful vacation.” ~ Linda, June 2022″The View Alone is perfect. A great little place right on the water with few steps to the beach. We’ve enjoyed our stay both in the summer and fall. The house is quaint with everything you need. Clean towels and comfortable beds. It is near several good wineries and a great hike on the Outlet Trail! We have two young boys and they love to play outside. A perfect place to get away!” ~ Madelyn, October 2020″Lovely cottage. The screened porch was amazing. We spent almost the entire time there- so comfortable and inviting for meals, reading and naps! The view and sunsets were phenomenal. We very much enjoyed our vacation there.” ~ Marcella, August, 2020″As a Keuka College graduate I’ve been coming to the lake for 52 years. This 3 BD/2 BA cottage lives much larger than one would expect. Very clean. Great W/D! Perfect location to just stay at the cottage and enjoy the lake or day trip to wineries, distillers, craft beer, museums, Hammondsport, Watkins Glen, Dundee, Corning. The options are limitless and the quaint cottage is the perfect location for enjoying all the Lake has to offer. Kitchen is well equipped and easy to navigate. Lots of top- rated restaurants close by if cooking isn’t your thing. I will definitely return.” ~ Sherilyn, October 2018″We thoroughly enjoyed our recent 4- night stay at this property which is conveniently located between Hammondsport and Penn Yan on the eastern side of the lake. The kitchen was well-stocked including good pots/pans and sharp knives, which made cooking meals a breeze. And why not eat in when you can enjoy a lovely view of the lake from the dining room! The beds were very comfortable as well. We would definitely return here on future trips to Keuka Lake.” ~ Sue M., September 2018″We stayed the end of September and had beautiful weather (high 80’S). The house was quaint, clean and wow what a view!! The owner was wonderful to work with so kind and helpful (even returned something I left there immediately.) We enjoyed the beautiful enclosed back porch so much and spent time there when we were at the house. The house is old but it is evident that it is lovingly cared for and has all modern amenities. We spent a lot of time at the wineries and loved the town of Hammondsport which was about 8 miles away. We hope to return next fall!” ~ Lori, October 2017
