Description
There is nothing more romantic than a hand cut log cabin set in the forest away from the world. During the great depression, the members of the Flood family set about to create the log cabin you will be living in. Each log was cut from the surrounding forest by hand, the bark was removed by hand, the logs were cut to length and notched by hand, then lifted and spiked into their present location using nothing but physical effort. Even today, you can see the cuts that were all made by hand.Set in the forest, the Log Cabin is approximately 100 feet from the shore, with its own private beach just out the front door and over the rocks. You can see lobster buoys through the tall, mature, spruce trees and hear the lobster boats in the morning as they pull their traps. The trees are well over 100 years old in many cases. The Log Cabin is based upon an open concept living with one large first floor room, an attached bathroom, loft, kitchen, fireplace and screened in porch. There are five single beds – two on the first floor, two in the loft and one on the screened in porch. The Log Cabin has a fully equipped galley kitchen. The dining area consists of a dining room table that will seat six. There is a large fireplace in the center of the living area with chairs that face the fireplace. The full bath includes a shower stall for washing off the saltwater. The sleeping area includes a queen bed on the first floor and two twin beds in the large loft. The screened in front porch runs the full length of the Lob Cabin and is the ocean facing side of the building. It has a table that you can play cards on or have dinner, plus a comfortable bed to sleep on while listening to the ocean breezes. You access the Log Cabin by driving down the long driveway through the mature spruce forest or through the foot path that connects the Log Cabin to the rest of Flood’s Cove including the tennis courts, playground, the beach, the docks and the balance of the cottages. If you desire the smell of a spruce forest coupled with the song of the sea birds, the sound of the ocean’s waves all the while dining on the screened in porch; the Log Cabin is for you.Join us at Flood’s Cove and enjoy a truly unique vacation location – the Log Cabin.
