Description

Luxury townhouse 10 min from downtown Charlottesvilles, 5th street Station and UVA.10 min to Monticello, Carter’s mountain, and hiking trails. There is also Charlottesville’s Historic Downtown Mall, one of the longest pedestrian malls in the country, with 120 retail shops, restaurants, and art galleries. The home is a short drive to the University of Virginia and the top-rate UVA Medical Center. John Paul Jones Arena is also close by for live music and entertainment. There are numerous vineyards and outdoor activities to enjoy. The space is modern, comfortable, luxurious, spacious, with tall ceilings and lots of windows. There is a nice deck off the kitchen. Very important- *** PLEASE note you will be sharing a single entry way, with my tenant, and her fluffy canine companion, into the home. You must remember to lock the front door when you are out. I rent this studio apt on this floor to a quiet, senior, professional woman. It is single use only. Her husband lives in another country and so it is just her. The first floor is the ground entrance. You take the stairs up to the second level. This is your separate, locked area. The second floor includes the kitchen, powder room, living room, and dining area. You are welcome to use condiments or food items, that are located in the refrigerator and pantry. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to prepare meals. The 3rd level includes the 3 bedrooms and two full bathrooms.Quiet time is to be observed between 11 pm and 10 am. No loud music etc. NO parties are allowed at any time. Please turn off all lights when you leave for the day! Be sure to keep the windows and doors closed. It’s stink bug and ladybug season. They will fly right in!***This townhouse is my home where I stay when I’m not traveling(which is frequently). If you are not comfortable staying in someone’s home please do not book a stay. Please be sure to keep the blinds and curtains closed UPSTAIRS on the “street” side of the home during the summer months. With the temperatures in the upper 80s it’s hard for the air conditioner to keep the upstair bedrooms cool when the sun is streaming through those windows.*** The map shows the location of the house at Lake Monticello. This is incorrect! It is a new subdivision and Google has not caught up!The street address is 3603 Moffat St, Charlottesville, VA 22902.Fun things to do: bear in mind you can google any of these destinations on google maps for easy directions.- A tour of Monticello- President Thomas Jefferson’s historic home is a must see. There are several good vineyards to go to as well in this area. During the busy season – fall, summer and spring it is best to call and get a reservation at this UNESCO World Heritage Site. During the holiday season Monticello is decked out with traditional colonial decorations-US president James Monroe Highland and US President James Madison historic homes are also very good. There are wonderful vineyards in these locations as well.- Carter’s Mountain up the street is near Monticello is a very popular destination.- My personal favorite vineyards are Pipin Hill Farm and vineyard, Dave Matthew’s Blenheim Vineyard, Albemarle Estate at Trump vineyard. Barborsville vineyard is great too and is near James Monroe historic home.- There is good hiking in and around Charlottesville. There are too many places to list, but convenient, nearby trail is Saunders-Monticello trail which is very nice.-Touring UVA/Thomas Jefferson’s Rotunda. Reservations required, but worth it!Saturday morning farm market off the downtown mall is amazing.Restaurants: There are many good restaurants in Charlottesville. Here are some of the most popular, local spots:Breakfast:Blue Moon is a local dive(not expensive) and is my favorite breakfast brunch place on Sunday morning. Call for a reservation though for Sunday mornings!Bodos of course.Lunch:Red Hub Barbecue(parking is difficult, but worth it), Wayside takeout, Mezeh mediterranean grill, Poke Sushi, Mellow mushroom pizza, Monsonsoon Siam(Thai), Milan(Indian). Any of the sushi places on the downtown mall are excellent. There are also chain restaurants: Chipotle, Panerra etc.*** Near Pipin Hill Farms is a pizza place called Dr. Ho’s which serves up some of the best pizza in town. If you want to do a wine tasting at Pipen, Dr. Ho’s is a great spot for pizza afterwards.***Michie Tavern is a historic tavern with a period restaurant serving Southern fare, plus a gift shop & tours at Monticello. The current hours are limited from 11:30 – 3 pm. This tavern was a favorite spot of Thomas Jefferson and is right next to Monticello. It’s a bit pricey for what you get, but it’s fun!Dinner:Maya’s , Orzos, The Wool Factory(new), Ten(sushi), Tavola, the Local, Zocalos, Continental Divide, Torchy Taco, Red Pump Kitchen, and Brasserie Saison.*** Mas (Mas is a Spanish eatery offering tapas & great spanish wines in an industrial-chic setting with a lively bar. You must make reservations in advance. It’s a personal favorite if you can get in. The shrimp tapa is amazing)These are some of the most popular fine dining experience in Charlottesville: all require reservations.-C&O restaurant and Fluerie’s French Cusine(very romantic!) are on the downtown mall – for C&O ask to be seated on the main floor for the best dining experience.-Ivy Inn-The Old Mill room at Boarshead Inn.For good food on a budget:Bodos, Take it away, Thai Fresh, Poke Sushi, Roots, Revolutionary soup, Marco Luna noodle(must get the dumplings!), Tip top restaurant(breakfast, lunch and dinner).***Bodo’s bagels is great for breakfast and lunch. Everything is fresh and yummy. Routinely wins best sandwich in Cville. There are 3 locations.
