Description
Luxury Cabin Overlooking Large Trout Pond on Former Summer Camp.. Come & PlayA housekeeper has been trained with cleaning prevention guidelines and practices. Guest will find a package including hand sanitizers and face masks that they can use during their stay. This luxurious mountain cabin sits atop a knoll overlooking a very large, stocked trout pond ready for fishing. Enjoy grilling out on the home’s deck with the new grill while taking in the beautiful view, or just relaxing on the porch by candlelight listening to the cascading water over the rocks of the stream running to the side of the house.Inside you’ll find a very large great room with a combination living/kitchen/dining room which is perfect for relaxing entertainment by the wood-burning, native stone fireplace—perfect on the chilly mountain nights. The living room is equipped with a new HD Television and Blu-Ray/DVD player, as well as DirecTV satellite TV with movie and sports channel packages. The home has wireless, high-speed internet access. The kitchen is equipped with all utensils, as well as virtually all baking, grilling, and other cooking tools that you’ll need to prepare a gourmet meal. New glassware and dinnerware sets for 8 are stocked in the cabinets. A coffee maker with permanent filter, toaster, convection toaster oven, and microwave oven are in the home, as are a new washer and dryer set. This home has just recently been placed on VRBO and has new furnishings, linens, and high-end mattresses. The master BR has a King-sized bed and the second BR is a Queen-sized mattress (both Stearns & Foster). Sheets are 1000-thread count. The living room has a suitably comfortable sleeper sofa (Queen) and new sleeper loveseat (Twin) to make the home sleep 7-8 people, if needed (owner approval). Both bedrooms have new HDTV televisions with complete DirecTV channel packages.Originally a summer camp over fifty years ago, the property on which the home now sits is a private, family estate comprised of 66 mountainous acres with two ponds that are fed by 3 streams that all originate on the property. The home sits on the footprint of what was the camp’s headmaster’s cabin. The original native stone steps lead up the hill to the deck giving the cabin unique, historic character. There are only two cabins on this camp now, although the tract of land is very large—66 acres—so the two homes on this property remain private from one another. A small mountain separates the two and they are not within sight or hearing range of the other. There are two small fields at the top of the mountain that are perfect for playing games with the family and throwing balls to the dogs, etc. Unused gravel roads and trails wind through the property and are perfect for leisurely strolls, short hikes, and dog-walking. There are some hidden trails in the forest for those that are brave-hearted that like outright bushwhacking! Kids absolutely love playing in the streams on the property sifting through the water looking for ‘rubies’ in the rocks and throwing pebbles in the pond…. And the trout-fishing is loads of fun. The largest pond is about an acre and has an outbuilding/garage overlooking that’s used as an entertainment site with a very large deck for grilling, eating out, or just relaxing while watching the kids fish.Structural relics of the old summer camp still exist throughout the property—stone foundations from the dining hall, a stone amphitheater in a mountain cove, old stone outdoor fireplaces, etc.—-all making for interesting outdoor exploration. This property is much more than a rental home—it’s an adventure!(Note: This is a newly added VRBO home, so look at my other home on the property if you’d like to see more reviews from former guest look at property number 350504. If this home is booked for the dates that you’re interested in, then I suggest you consider the other home as well).
