Description
The Cabin at the River offers a serene location, great fishing, and kayaking, very close to the public boat launch, and the Cabin can accommodate boat parking. With 20 acres of woods and Michigan Prairie, there is wildlife to observe and trails to hike. But life at the Cabin revolves around one thing: the river. Just a few steps down gives easy access for your fly-fishing adventures for brown and rainbow trout, steelhead and coho salmon. Let the kids explore and find the crayfish. Put your kayak in right from your Cabin, or rent a canoe, kayak, or tube just up the road at Croton Dam and paddle or float by your Cabin to the High Rollaway for easy pick-up. When you aren’t on or in the river, you will probably be listening to it or watching it from the Cabin. There is always something happening: Great Blue Herons fly low and strong up and down river twice a day, while Bald Eagles soar above, and kingfishers dive. Flotillas of families float by and wave while you watch from the lawn chairs. Watch the fishermen and women pull out a big one! When the sun sets, grill a steak out on the patio, or build a fire in the outdoor fire pit and toast marshmallows. Inside, watch TV if you must (from the two leather Lazy Boys), or pull out a game or a book or a puzzle. You will have a fully stocked kitchen, as this is a home, not just a rental property! Sleeping will be comfortable, whether you snooze in the king bed on the sleeping porch bedroom, or in one of the two twin beds in the rear bedroom, or on the queen sleeper in the living room. The Cabin demands a slower pace than at home, but it is not isolated. Casual restaurants are close, as are great hiking trails, and if you want a longer field trip, Lake Michigan beaches beckon just an hour west, or the best mid size city in the Midwest is just 45 minutes south. But you will probably want to stay and play games on the lawn or see if a walk in the woods, on the marked trails will yield a sighting of the deer, porcupine, or wild turkeys. Relax. You are on Cabin time.
