Description
This quintessential home speaks for itself. It sits stately on a hill overlooking the awe-inspiring historic Connecticut River as if it is standing guard. The 5 granite terraces that march up into the forest offer even more of the incredible breathtaking views this home offers. When I look out over this beautiful landscape I feel privileged to be here and astonished by the fact that over the last 400 years this River has been a major player in the forming of our country. Our vision is to offer an atmosphere of Colonial Early American times. We hope that the simple surroundings bring a warm and welcoming feeling like a blanket around your shoulders as you sit in front of the fireplace made of brownstone.East Haddam a magical place to visit founded in 1734. The Goodspeed Opera House (within walking distance .8 miles) and Gillette Castle are just 2 of the high points in the area. Sit on the deck at the Gelston House (1853) and enjoy a glass of wine and excellent fish and chips. Also within walking distance in case one glass of wine too many!!One of my favorite moments here is to lie in bed looking out over the river and listening to the pair of local bald eagles chatting in the tree across the road. If only someone would have brought me a cup of coffee!!
