The property consists of one acre of gently sloping lawn to a rockbound coast. Pemaquid Beach ( ask owners about a short-cut access) and the Lighthouse (a drive) are nearby. We are a NO-PETS and TOBACCO-FREE household to accommodate all guests. All sheets/linens are provided as are fireplace wood and charcoal barbecue. Renters have full access to the two decks, tables, chairs, umbrellas, etc. to the picnic table and other tables, chairs and umbrellas on the roadside grounds. Renters can walk to Pemaquid Beach, although it is a long walk for the elderly but enters will be given access to a short-cut should they desire. We are located approximately 1500 feet away from this most gorgeous, fine-white-sand, beach. Pemaquid Beach (known as one of the best in Maine) is tractor-sifted every night, and the facility operates a seasonal totally rebuilt concession that holds change rooms, showers, rental items and also sells good basic food and drinks. We provide a beach umbrella and chairs for your day’s enjoyment at Pemaquid Beach. Pemaquid Lighthouse is a picturesque and magical place complete with nautical museum and art gallery with an ocean-view restaurant adjacent to the lighthouse. We’ve driven here in the early morning hours for the ritual, rising of the sun over Monhegan Island. This New England lighthouse and its majestic, geological outcroppings will stir the photographer/painter/humanist in everyone. Caution: DO NOT VENTURE TOO FAR ONTO THE ROCKS. A ROGUE WAVE COULD FOREVER SWEEP YOU OUT TO SEA – PLEASE BE FOREWARNED!!Museums/day trips/evening Trips: The Owl’s Head Transportation Museum (Owl’s Head, Me.) is a magnificent facility to visit. Antique cars, trucks and planes abound and are this facility’s specialty showpieces. The OHTM occasionally provides opportunities to ride in antique biplanes during specific times of the year. The Maine Maritime Museum (Bath, Me.) is another destination from which you will come away with a great appreciation of Maine’s maritime heritage/history. The Farnsworth Art Museum (Rockland, Me.) owns and displays a large, permanent collection of the Wyeth family paintings (N.C., Andrew and Jamie) as well as works by many other artists. The Farnsworth constantly hosts shows of all stripes of artists throughout the year. Bowdoin College (Brunswick, Me.) stages live theatre productions and has a new recital Hall and museum open to the Public. The Rockport Opera House (Rockport, Me.) hosts many world-class music and operatic concerts through its Bay Chamber Concert series and master-class offerings.Boating: Pemaquid Harbor provides free community access (boat ramp at the ‘Fort’) to the waterfront for all types of marine craft, from sail, motor to kayak. Re: kayaking, local rentals/guided tours are available in the town of Pemaquid. Tie-ups for small, row and motorboats are facilitated at the Pemaquid town dock; however, the dock is seized upon by boats throughout the summer, so access is on a ‘first-come, first-served’ basis. Wonderful, sunset, puffin- and whale-watching cruises are offered by the comfortable ‘Hardy’ passenger vessel out of New Harbor. The Hardy Boat also takes day tripping passengers to and from magical, Monhegan Island 10 miles out to sea. Hiking the island’s cathedral woods and coastline are breath-taking and memorable experiences. Finally, charter/touring boats operate out of nearby Boothbay Harbor. On such a day trip, you might charter a deep-sea-fishing vessel and return home at dusk with, if you’re lucky, many flounder, strippers or even tuna. And now, Booth Bay boasts a magnificent botanical garden!
