Unlike some La Jolla homes in the hills where there are no sidewalks and it is difficult to walk, the homes in this area are perfect for walking, jogging, or bike riding.Casasol is a designated historic property built in 1928-29, by noted architects Herbert Mann and Thomas Shepherd. Today the house is restored and modernized, but filled with the same charm and character that the architect gave La Jolla’s famous La Valencia Hotel: carved stone benches, leaded glass windows, hand-crafted tiles; high beamed ceilings; carved walnut paneled dining room, tile and wood floors throughout.The house is equipped with everything you need to play, picnic, and enjoy the beaches, from folding chairs, coolers, to beach towels, toys and bikes. The family room with flat screen TV has an adjacent cabana bath for changing for the pool. Exquisitely furnished, with the best linens, a gourmet eat-in kitchen with travertine floors, granite and Corian surfaces, Casasol will provide a holiday in style and comfort. A wood burning fireplace is equipped with a gas starter, and a pile of firewood is available. The large bedrooms with black out curtains are perfect for a good nights sleep. The large dining room seats up to 10, kitchen breakfast table up to 6, patio table 8. We provide two additional folding beds, and a Graco crib for children.We are located a 8 minute walk to the beach, 5 minute drive into the village of La Jolla, few minute drive into the hamlet of Bird Rock (coffee houses & restaurants), and 20 minute drive to downtown San Diego and a bit further to the zoo.The owners of Casasol have an apartment with a separate entrance located in an adjoining building on the West side of the property. They are seldom on site, and your access and use of the main house is totally private.**********************House Layout:The 4300 sq. ft. home includes three large sun-filled bedrooms upstairs, each with bathrooms en suite, a bathroom off the kitchen, and a family room with its own bathroom. A few minutes into the village, and any day you can watch the seals play at the Children’s Pool.CLEANING PROTOCOLCOVID-19 has resulted in a cleaning protocol which is basically double our former protocol. Special attention is made to clean then disinfect the typical areas we frequently touch (all electrical switches, bannister, knobs, chair arms, backs of chairs). Special covers are placed on remotes. Hand sanitizers are available. Linens are washed at suitable high temperatures. As you know, sun is the best killer of the virus, and you should have all the outdoor sun you need.
