Description
Sails and Sunsets:” One of the Best Views on the Lake”Sails & Sunsets is located on east side just across from the Bluff. This is the widest stretch of water on Keuka Lake, with panoramic views of the bluff and all three branches! Due to the location of this property you’ll find ample area activities to do!The water gets deep gradually for young swimmers, and there is a beach where the kids can play. The lawn is a ‘barefoot lawn’ – no chemicals – so kick off your shoes and enjoy the cool green grass. We think you will enjoy our cove as much as the bald eagle(s) who seem to know that it’s a good place to fish. Those who seek exercise will appreciate the quiet country road that goes uphill for two miles directly behind the cottage. This leads to one of the best views of Keuka, “Silsbee Road Overlook,” 1 ½ miles from the cottage. During the fall you will be treated with the fragrance of the ripe grapes as you walk past the vineyards. The quiet lake road is perfect for leisurely strolls, and in nearby Penn Yan the Keuka Outlet Trail with its rapids and waterfalls is a beautiful place to bicycle, hike or enjoy cross country skiing during winter months. For the times when you just want to relax, Sails & Sunsets provides space to curl up with a good book, wireless internet and two TVs with ROKU streaming devices. No need to worry about decorating while staying at Sails and Sunsets for the holidays. A decorated tree adorns this vacation home from Thanksgiving until just after the New Year. The walk-out basement opens to the lower deck, measures a spacious 25 X 50 feet, and offers many amenities. If you have a rainy day, don’t despair, because there is plenty of room for youngsters to romp and play. A ping pong table, extra futon, and table and chairs to play a variety of games (provided of course) should keep families of all ages entertained. There are two outdoor decks to choose between – one in the sun and one in the shade – both less than 25 feet from the lake.Every room has been elegantly furnished and many of the pieces are handcrafted by local Mennonites. No comfort has been spared, including in the bedrooms. Each bed features top quality Beauty Rest mattresses, and one of the bedrooms features a hand-hewn lodge pole pine bedroom suite from the Northwest. A semi private loft with a queen size BeautyRest futon and scenic views of the lake provides a comfortable fourth bedroom. The loft’s antique table and chairs offers a quiet place for relaxing. The Keuka Yacht Club is directly across the lake from the cottage. Guests will be able to enjoy watching sailboat races on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the summer. Places to visit while you are at the lake include the charming villages of Hammondsport and Penn Yan, the State Park at Watkins Glen, the Windmill Farm and Craft Market, many Mennonite owned and operated produce stands (watch for them in their stately horse and buggies), the Glenn Curtiss Museum of Aviation, the Corning Museum of Glass, and of course the 3 wineries within walking distance! For those who like to golf, there are two golf courses, a nine hole and an eighteen hole course within three and ten miles of the cottage, respectively. Located 1/2 hour from Watkins Glen, where you’ll find the Watkins Glen International Race Track and the State Park.
