Description
Salty LIVIN’***Pet fee is $150. Pet friendly doesn’t mean we clean up after them and risk property damage for free. See more details below.***Come be hosted by friendly locals with soul at Salty LIVIN’. We are in Old Town Port Aransas where most things of note are within easy walking distance. The beach is a 10-15 minute walk away. It is less than a 10 minute walk to restaurants/bars such as Stingrays, The Gaff, La Playa and Crazy Cajun. This will be very hard to beat! You will notice the space and privacy of this place immediately, whereas other accommodations in town are often cramped and lack privacy. This is an old school Port A home, not new construction by an investment conglomerate with no connection to the community. We offer chill vibes for man and man’s best friend. It’s what you come to an island for – Salty LIVIN’ .Our house is an open floor plan. The spacious kitchen has granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances. Everything is brand new and it’s well equipped. The dining area has a table for 8 and a coffee bar (french press, Nespresso machine, Keurig machine). The living area has a huge sectional sofa and 60 inch smart TV on a fully adjustable arm. In the sun room is a breakfast table and leather sofa. People really enjoy relaxing in this room!A back door in the sunroom leads out to a small deck and the back yard. There is a grill area in the back yard with some adorandak chairs and plush carpet grass. On the side of the house is a great outdoor shower with a privacy enclosure. In front there is a big section of yard and a big deck (with chairs) for people watching and sunsets. The front bedroom is off the kitchen and has a double bed, twin bed and smart TV. The back bedroom is off the living area and has a king bed. It will be a master at some point (making this configuration a 2/2) but the work is not yet complete. The door leading to the eventual bathroom will be kept locked for now.During your stay you will also have access to a washer and dryer in the garage through a door off the kitchen. The big garage door is to remain closed. We let guests in there for laundry purposes ONLY. It is not for guests to open the garage door to use the space for their things or park.As for parking, you can fit 4 regular sized vehicles in the spacious driveway. Street parking is legal, but not ideal on busy Station Street. No beach gear is provided for guests. Please bring all your own beach gear, including chairs and towels. We provide bath towels, wash rags, basic toiletries, starter sets of paper goods, trash bags, dish soap, dishwasher detergent, a few courtesy laundry pods and a few courtesy Keurig coffee pods. Anything beyond this is the guests’ responsibility to provide.Well, what more do you need to hear? Salty LIVIN’ is run by local & established super hosts that love Port A. It’s a real value pick so come have your stay at a reduced rate before folks catch on to how sweet the place is and rates go up. We hope to see y’all on the island sooner rather than later !We have another 2/1 listing in the back of the property if you need extra space or are interested in a slightly cheaper option. It’s called the Surf Shack Cottage.https://www.vrbo.com/1660845‐–‐——————————*IMPORTANT PET & DAMAGE PROTECTION INFORMATION*Dogs are welcome and we love them. However, we needed to set expectations after many difficult cleanings, damaged furniture, outdoor plants destroyed and holes dug in the yard.We charge a one time, blanket (covers 2 dogs) $150 non-refundable pet fee. If you have more than 2 dogs you must first request to bring them, and if we agree it will be $75 for each additional dog. Also we need you to agree that your dogs will not be left unsupervised to roam the house or yard if there’s even the slightest chance that they’ll be destructive. We are not suggesting a rigid policy here so use practicality over protocol. You know your animals best. Please put them in a crate when you’re away if they’re not to be fully trusted. That means inside or outside. We’d also prefer they not be allowed on any furniture or beds because it causes premature wear & tear and is unfair to future guests who may have pet allergies. Bring a dang dog bed please! We want to keep our stuff nice. Finally, the pet fee is for the privilege of bringing your pet (extra rent). It is not to be considered a deposit on any potential damage, which will be assessed and charged separately. This is simply the cost of bringing your furry friend. As for our damage protection deposit/insurance, nothing will ever be charged/claimed as long as there’s no property damage or missing items from the home, you clean all your dishes, take out all your trash and pick up after any pets (poo mostly). We trust you’ll understand and be a responsible guest in this regard. Thanks!‐‐—————‐—————————————*FULL DISCLOSURE*We feel it is important that you understand what you will be renting with this configuration of our house is the bigger, better half (a 2/1). It is exactly as described and shown in the photos, though it’s most accurate to think of the house as a temporarily converted duplex. It is really no different than renting a condo or hotel in this respect, although it is actually much better than either of those options. Other large houses in town also use shut offs to maximize their rentals in the slow season. It is quite common. Some even do it this way full time. We must run our property like this because we have found that hardly anybody books big homes outside of peak season. More people seek to rent smaller, cheaper places so we came up with this solution to keep the rents rolling in.The way in which we divide the house is done tastefully. We use a heavily insulated insert to block the stairwell opening that leads to the upstairs level and lower split level of the house. These levels are what make up the other “half” of the house. It’s clear in the house’s construction that this was a later addition, thereby making our splitting of the house more or less natural. The insert blocking the opening presents as a book shelf in the living area on your side. There are no shared walls of any consequence, nor is there anybody overhead or underfoot. Since the bookshelf insert cuts the house in 2 at the stairwell, it minimizes any possibility of being disturbed by sound or vibrations coming from the other side. Your half of the house has central air and heat whereas the other half has its own mini split units. The back yards are totally seperated with a 6 foot privacy fence and all entrances and parking (you get the entire driveway) are also seperate. Literally nothing is shared! The other half of this house is also not used by paying guests at all. We (the owners) and our people sometimes use it in the slow season to fish, surf and rest. It is not available for anybody else to book on VRBO, so you can rest assured that no unknown quantities will be turning up. We park elsewhere and are completely quiet and nearly invisible. You’ll not be bothered one bit. We have our own gate to our own yard and enter through our own door. Anybody that might come completely understands the boundaries and strict rules should a paying guest be at the house. You COME FIRST in every way!
