Nestled among Hiawassee’s rolling hills, in the shadow of Brasstown Bald, our home sits on 490 feet of picturesque Fodder Creek. The house offers rustic charm with contemporary elegance. Built in 2007, and winner of five design awards, the mountain retreat provides a perfect getaway for relaxation, outdoor activities nearby, and romance. It’s an ideal location for your family’sget away or vacation, or to celebrate a special or romantic occasion offering spacious, cozy accommodations for up to seven people. The first flooraffords an open floor plan with gourmet kitchen, and island bar, seating two.Notice that there is a closet for the washer/dryer, available to our guests for their use. The adjacent dining area has a wood table which seats seven. The inviting great room lures you with a stack-stone, propane fireplace with a stone hearth to warm your hands or just sit on. We have HD TV (with the NFL football pkg.), as well as a DVD player (and a large selection of movies to view for all ages. The bookcase invites you to select a book to read or a game to play. The guest bedroom has a queen-size log bed, with a pull-out trundle bed. This room also has a nice walk-in closet to store your belongings in. Adjoining via door is the first floor, bathroom with its large vanity, tub and shower. Ascend the staircase to the gracious master suite, which encompasses the second floor, providing sanctuary within. Be pampered by its luxurious chaise lounge while viewing nature and sounds of the babbling creek through a wall of windows.The suite features cathedral ceilings, featuring the large, deer horn chandelier. This suite has another floor to ceiling, propane-fired fireplace with stone hearth – enjoy another HD television, too. There is a large wet bar where you can enjoy coffees, a bottle of wine and is fully stocked, including a microwave for those snacks. Enjoy your refreshments at the inviting, two-seat cafe set and take in more pastoral views from the front windows. In this area there is a daybed with a pull up trundle -bed- additional sleeping for two persons – or a perfect niche to enjoy a book or take a nap.The king canopy bed was commissioned to reflect the trees viewed from the large windows. The suite also features two bathrooms: one for him with walk-in, glass shower, vanity area and generous closet to store your belongings. The second, large full bathroom offers an inviting soaking tub, bathrobes for your use as well as a large dressing/vanity area with amazing storage available.The wall of windows invites one to open the windows and let in the sounds of the creek while soaking in the tub (which also has a hand-held shower wand, should you prefer). Now, go explore the amazing nature which abounds in the rear of the home – enjoy peaceful breezes and views of the creek while dining outdoors; or gather around the flagstone fire pit and relax in chairs and seatee for the evening, under a canopy of mountain laurel and large, old trees, including one that is native to the area and unusual. It is known as the Buckeye Tree and drops red, hard nuts in the fall. In the spring, you will enjoy the expansive vision of native blooming mountain laurel bushesalong the creek’s edge. The property winds along 490 feet of Fodder Creek, and can be accessed easily; or just sit, gaze, read, nap, chat on our patio with native reed chairs and a chaise lounge to relax on. One can walk in the creek and explore the various falls, islands and parts with holes deep enough to bathe in.Trout have been caught in these spring-fed waters. The stone walkway invites you to stroll to all the above areas in the back yard. There are also lovely cushions available for the seatees and chairs in the large storage box up by the dining area, along with several children’s life jackets, if needed. The areais known for its gold mining, marble mining and the oldest mountains, worldwide, aswell as the largest documented number of flora and fauna. Chances are, one of the notches you see atop a mountain was used by Native Indians as a place of worship orfielding their stock.
