Description
Stunning Nubble Lighthouse & Ocean Views, 3891 sq. ft. 267′ of rocky coast!Spend warm summer days on the deck, listening to the waves or winter days in front of the fireplace with Nubble Light peaking through the windows. Take postcard photos from a 5 bedroom oceanfront home about 1500 feet from Nubble Lighthouse; a mile to the nearest beach. All of the rooms have ocean views; half of the rooms have a view of the Nubble Light House. From the deck, lower level sunroom, or sunny dining room there are panoramic views from Long Sands Beach to the Nubble Light. On a clear night, you can see four lighthouses(from left to right): Nubble or Cape Neddick Light, Boon Island Lighthouse, the Isle of Shoals, and Whaleback Light. No bedroom is more than 7 steps from a bathroom. There are four queen bedrooms, and one with two twin beds. Watch the dawn strike the Nubble Lighthouse; the rhythmic waves crashing against the rocks; the sea birds, the pleasure, lobster and fishing boats, and kayakers. Explore rocky pools at low tide. The perfect place to relax or to walk. Enjoy the cries of the seagulls and the salt air. There are two 46″and a 55″ HDTVs, an XBox One X, 5 Sonos wireless speaker units, and a surround sound set, (for hooking up to Internet radio or sync your music with your smart phone, iPad, or iPhone). Enjoy WiFi, and a multifunction printer to print your boarding passes. Free long distance to U.S. and Canada. Why stay here? For a family gathering or retreat, there are five levels and a .61 acre yard allowing places to be apart or together. There is a separate game/family room for the children, just out of earshot from most of the rest of our home, another living room right by the kitchen and dining area, a deck off of the dining area, and a first floor sunroom for a get away. The Nubble is magical for us at any time of day or year. The leaves in York were stunning again this fall. My sister says that the Christmas lights on the Nubble makes it even more enchanting, as you can see from the picture Michael Blanchette took. The storms can be majestic showing the awesome power of the waves as they roar and spray on the rocks. Each dawn seems different, the dawn mist, the red in the morning, or the break of any day on the Nubble. No matter what you are doing you can enjoy the incredible light as it changes through the day. Some of the sunsets are spectacular, too. On moonlit nights, gazing on the shimmering waves, sometimes I hear ‘Clair de Lune’ other times, ‘Moonlight Sonata’ or ‘La Mer.’ We love the sound and smell of the ocean, and the cries of the seagulls, even as they drop shell fish on the rocks. We hope that you will, too. No weddings or large parties. First booking priority is given to returning guests for the same week(s) in the next year. There are reduced rates from September to May, and three day weekends are available from late October until the end of April. May to September are minimum weekly bookings. We have seen stand up paddle boarders on calm days go out toward the lighthouse. On anything but a really calm day, I wouldn’t want to try it. :-)Or kayak in the ocean or up the York or Cape Neddick rivers and time your trip with the incoming or outgoing tide. There are many fine restaurants in the area, and some are award winning.More things to do: Stonewall Kitchens, which is just about opposite the I-95 exit for York, and it is a lovely place to shop for delicious goodies, have lunch, or just sample and browse until you make up your mind. Some people fish off our rocks, or go on a boat to sightsee or to fish. For history buffs, there is an old wharf owned by John Hancock, An Old Gaol (jail) which is also a museum, Inns and other historic things such as an old cemetery with death angels on some of the grave stones. There are three or four golf courses relatively near. One is a top 100 public course. There is an outlet complex just over the state line from the NH — ME border in the next town of Kittery, or go a bit over an hour north to Freeport for their mall and L.L. Bean.. York, has no shortage of art, craft or touristy shops. You can almost always find something to do, and when you can’t, Boston is 68 miles away. 🙂
