The Tanglewood room is located on the second floor and features a queen-size bed. As with any room in our inn, the Tanglewood has a unique personality with exposed brick and ivy wallpaper and provides a cozy atmosphere overlooking our second-floor veranda- with a spectacular view of the city landscape. The en-suite bath features a shower and pedestal sink. This room can become a two-room suite when joined with the Salem room, if you are traveling with family or friends.Built in 1907 as the private residence of Henry Fries Shaffner, the co-founder of Wachovia Loan and Trust, this extravagant Victorian-style mansion boasts Tiger oak hand-carved paneling, original coal-burning fireplaces, a grand staircase and priceless antiques. It is perfect for quiet nights away or corporate and private events. Located in downtown Winston-Salem, it is walking-distance to a multitude of the city’s best restaurants, bars and shops.The Shaffner has retained historic charm while expanding to include modern amenities such as free WiFi, 43″ smart, flat-screen TVs, alarm/clock and USB charging stations.
