Built before the Civil War, the cottage has been lovingly rehabilitated and features the perfect blend of nostalgia with modern amenities. The cottage has off street parking and is walkable to boating, shopping, dining and cultural activities. Bar Harbor is named for the ‘bar’ to Bar Island which forms the harbor. Bar Island, portrayed by David Maitland Armstrong in his late 1800’s painting, ‘The Bar, Bar Harbor’, is visible from the cottage.The entire top floor of the cottage is a king bedroom suite with two sitting rooms (one with water view), walk-in closet, full bath and deck with water view.The first floor includes a fully equipped modern kitchen with full size appliances, living area with gas fireplace, den with pull out twin bed and a second full bath.Wonder why the cottage is named, ‘Thankful’? We traced the deeds back Thankful Rodick who in the mid-1800’s lived in the cottage.
