The Doctor’s 1781 House on the Litchfield GreenWelcome to the Doctor’s 1781 House on the Green in the Litchfield Historic District, a registered lamdmark. We are thrilled to share with our guests this beautifully preserved 1781 house and gardens in Connecticut’s quintessential colonial village. Located among historic homes and buildings and across the Green from Litchfield’s charming restaurants and shops, walk in the footsteps of Washington, Tallmadge, Rochambeau, Henry Ward Beecher and Harriet Beecher Stowe and other luminaries of America’s beginnings. Litchfield County offers several charming tourist features. Known for its scenic beauty and historic significance, Litchfield attracts visitors with its picturesque countryside, fall foliage, colonial architecture, and cultural attractions. You can explore the charming Litchfield Green, a historic village green surrounded by well-preserved 18th-century houses and churches. The town is also home to the Litchfield Historical Society, which showcases exhibits on local history and offers informative tours. Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy the natural beauty of the area by hiking in (or getting married at!) the nearby White Memorial Conservation Center or exploring the rolling hills and serene lakes. Litchfield hosts various cultural events and festivals throughout the year – art, jazz, flowers, vintage cars – adding to its vibrant charm.
