Description
The Grand Porch Oasis – Historic YWCA BuildingSummary:Looking for that true front-porch-rocking chair experience of the South? The Grand Porch Oasis has you covered! Grab that sweet tea on ice (or maybe a mojito) and head out to the balcony overlooking the beautiful and historic Oglethorpe Avenue. This location has a 97 Walk Score, the absolute perfect central location to be in Savannah. Only short blocks to some of the best restaurants and shops that the City has to offer, including The Collins Quarter, Husk, Flying Monk, Cup to Cup Coffee, Public Kitchen & Bar, and so much more. We are surrounded by museums, historic homes, haunted inns and all things Savannah! This cozy, light-filled historic Ywca condo was just remodeled at the end of 2021 and serves you with high-speed WiFi, a smart TV, Keurig coffee maker and a fully-equipped kitchen. The renovation spared the gorgeous original floors and stunning balcony, yet offers the modern amenities that we can’t live without. The Queen bedroom has plenty of closet and storage space with tall windows letting plenty of morning sun in when needed. The twin bedroom has private access to the balcony via the French doors so you can take in the night breeze without disturbing the others. The modern bathroom is covered in beautiful title and offers a sliding glass door. You absolutely don’t want to miss out on this location and stunning condo. The Space:Gorgeous original maple flooring, extremely high ceilings, pronounced trim and other historic features take you back in time where sipping sweet tea over good conversation was a common routine. We have a fully-equipped kitchen with a dishwasher, laundry closet for washing/drying your clothes and plenty of seating space. We have a full table set in case you want to show off your culinary skills and have a formal sit-down meal. The cozy living room gets tons of light from the huge windows and French doors, so you can have a sunny morning breakfast to start the day off right! The twin room is a nice additional space for those with a child or maybe just a third-wheeler ๐ Easy to “work from home” with the high-speed Wi-Fi and plenty of table space to set up at.Guest Access:You have 24/7 access to the entire condo, make yourself at home! being on the first floor, you can walk up the front steps and access your unit with ease. The balcony is totally private to you and your group. It is actually the only balcony in the condo building that is occupied. You have access to the rear courtyard which is shared with the condo building. There is a charcoal BBQ grill and plenty of outdoor seating back there. This is the only place you may smoke. There is a storage space in the lobby where folks keep their bikes should you want to bring yours, or leave your luggage while you go explore if you’re waiting on a later flight out.The Neighborhood:We are located at Oglethorpe and Whitaker, an absolute prime location. You are walking distance to EVERYTHING. That said, if you’re bringing a car, we suggest parking in the Robinson Parking garage which is only a few blocks from the condo. You may park out front also but it is metered, and sometimes hard to find a space. It is free on Sundays. We are surrounded by some of the best local restaurants in town and only a short walk to River Street, Bay Street and City Market. You really don’t even need an Uber/Lyft at this location, walking is so easy from here :)Getting Around:Again, walking can easily be your first choice. Aside from that, there is a FREE trolley bus called the DOT shuttle that takes you all arounf the historic district. There is a stop just two blocks down at Whitaker and Liberty St. This is a nice way to get a good view of the City and have an easy hop-on-ho-off option that’s free. Another free option is The Downtowner, which is an app like Uber/Lyft but ran by the City and completely free! It runs 10am-midnight daily. If you do need to bring a car, we suggest the “leave it and forget it” option – just park it in the garage and don’t pick it up until it’s time to leave.Other Things to Note:The condo building is mostly long-term residents so please respect your neighbors and keep your inside voices on. “Quiet hours” are from 10pm-8am. Please be a courteous guest and help us show the City of Savannah how important you all are to us!Interaction with Guests:We are available to guests via mobile Monday-Friday 9am-9pm and Saturday and Sunday 10am-8pm. We don’t live far so if you should need anything or have any issues, just let us know.If you have any emergencies call 911.
