Description
Welcome to the Stiles Historical Estate, which includes the Stiles African American Heritage Center next to the residence. Named after Retired Denver Public School teacher, historian, and philanthropist, Grace Stiles, the estate was created as an homage to Five Points and the rich culture of the largely African American population who once called this neighborhood home. The estate is not just for the history buff. It is for cultural explorers and social capital seekers—those who are looking for more than just a room in their next Airbnb stay. As the Five Points area rapidly changes, The Stiles Historical Estate is one of the few black-owned short-term rentals that take great pride in offering a unique historical experience that will be here forever.Built in 1880, the home has plenty of character and has been tastefully renovated with the modern traveler in mind. Entering through the decorative “Stiles” original wrought iron gate, you’re welcomed by the jovial Venetian door. The living area flows into the dining space divided by French doors, adding to the character and feel of the home. A 1938 Redlining Map of Denver is the highlight of the space, hung center above the robust dining table.Enjoy the perks of a multifaceted kitchen configuration, accented with new stainless-steel appliances, a trendy subway tile backsplash, and beautiful wooden countertops for the chef of your group to enjoy.Your ¾ bathroom can be found on the main level off from the kitchen, as well as an additional full bath on the upper level. All bedrooms can be found on the second floor as well. The 2 twins are located in the bedroom at the end of the hallway, and the California King and Queen bed in the other 2 bedrooms feature memory foam pillow-top mattresses, along with blackout light and sound-absorbing curtains for the weary traveler. A washer and dryer are also included for your convenience. The home is filled with art from Thomas E. Lockhart, a multi-media artist whose spirit-driven process tells the unique stories of his art’s inception. (To learn more, search for Thomas E. Lockhart Artist)Spend your evenings out back on your secluded covered patio after a long day of exploring the city.
