Access to the beach is private for Captains Walk only and you literally can see it the whole way as you walk on one of two access boardwalks. On the beach lifeguards are present seasonally and offer umbrella chairs for rent along with some other beach equipment. Just bring your own beach towels.Inside the Palmetto Dunes gated community in which Captains Walk is located you will find plenty of things to do. Palmetto Dunes is home to 3 championship golf courses including 1 oceanfront course. Tennis, basketball and playgrounds are available as well. Fish or canoe/kayak the 11 mile lagoon that stretches throughout Palmetto Dunes. Fish or paddle the ocean with rentals available onsite at Hilton Head Outfitters.
