The Forest Haven Suite is nestled in the woods onthe Northern California Redwood Coast.Located minutes from spectacular scenic vistas,beaches state and national parks, the Forest HavenSuite is the ideal location from which to launchdaily activities.As summarized, the Suite is a 460 sq.ft. studiostyle structure, fully loaded with amenities.Of the five cottage at Golden Eagle VacationRentals, the Forest Haven Suite is the one’modular’constructed unit. The 2 X 6 walls came completewith windows, siding etc. installed. One of thechallenges was moving the components into placeand ‘erecting’ the structure into place.The metal roof is an outstanding choice ofmaterials due to the temperate coastal climatehere. The design is clean, maintenance low and thelight green hue compliments the surrounding forestof second growth spruce.The skylight facing east allows light into thestudio style cottage with it’s broad Douglas firbeams transverse the short dimension of thestructure. The gentle beat of a light rain on themetal roof is peaceful to listen too.A four step staircase elevates one to the ForestHaven Suite covered porch constructed of the TREXmaterial. Chocolate brown in color, the coveredporchsupported by light green 6 X 6 columns integratesnicelywith the living space inside and outsideenvironment.Two wooden rocking chairs are on the covered porchwith a small tablebetween them. Adjacent to the glass sliderentrance of the cottage. There is a welcoming vasewithfresh cut flowers, gathered from around theTranquility Pond on it.Rocking back and forth in the rocker with a glassof wine, compliments of the host, the everydaystress of life melts away as you focus on the raysof sunshine filtering through the trees and hearthe seals barkingfrom their rocky perches. The wooded treelineadjacent to the Forest Haven Suite conforms to theperennial creek that courses by the cottage. Itis difficult to discern the sound of the breezethrough the trees from the sound of a babblingbrook. Aptly, named Beach Creek, it’s ultimatedestination, the Pacific Ocean, is not far beyondthe boundaries of Golden Eagle Vacation Rentals.Sea Otters, though very discreet have been sightednear Beach Creek and IN the Tranquility Pond atGolden Eagle Vacation Rentals.Also, quite large beavers have been sighted bythis host AT Golden Eagle Vacation Rentals.One very early morning, a small wake across thetop of the Tranquility Pond was witnessed.A very large beaver emerged from the water, stoodup and turned around from the direction it hadcome from.Another wake of water proceeded across the shortdimension of the Tranquility Pond.Again, another smaller adorable slick/furrycreature emerged from the water.Apparently, the larger of the two was MOM. Thejuvenile was her offspring.I witnessed them waddle down the Golden Eagledriveway until disappearing into the brush,heading in the direction of a neighboring pond.A bald eagle perches itself in the top of a treelooking down on the waters flowing into theTranquilityPond, searching for prey.A large campfire pit is located below the TREXcovered porch.Composed of rocks mined from the Trinity River,there isa bundle of firewood, compliments of the host,available.The bundle of wood consists of smaller sizedDouglas fir kindling for starter woodand the slower burning hardwoods, Ma drone andOak.Hosting guests around a campfire is a greatopportunity for the host to meet them.Many friendships have been formed, familyreunions, wedding union and anniversariescelebrated around the campfire.I remember a Thanksgiving holiday around thecampfirewith my good friend, Mike & Mrs. W from the greatstate of Oregon.A skilled woodsman, Mike was convinced I could notignite a campfireduring a torrential rain. With persistence and thehelp of some diesel fuel, we were able to enjoythe warmth of a roaring bon fire in front of theForest Haven Suite.The complimentary hues, greens and browns, of thecottage exterior are offset be the white trimaround the windows, deterring the subtle eleganceofthe cottage’s interior.Stepping through the glass slider entrance to theForest Haven Suite is an experience worth noting.The five senses are immediately engaged andemerged in the tranquility of aspecial moment.A red duvet across a queen size bed beckons yourimmediate attention.Situated in a three sided alcove, the matchingcrimson colored complimentary pillows offer amountain ofsupport for the sore back of an avid reader inbed..The subtle sound of ‘Light Classical’ music blendsaudio virtuosity to an increasingly sensualexperience.A gentle warmth and glow emanating from theflickering flames of an inlaid hearth creates asense of romance. A welcoming colorful floralbouquet of native bloom is presented in a glassvase on the dining room table. Is that source ofthe aromaticessence filling the air in the Forest Haven Suite?The lingering fragrance of Tea Treeemanates through the Forest Haven Suite calmingthespirit. Tea Tree is an aromatic component, theessence,in the ‘eco friendly’, nontoxic, biodegradablecleaningproducts that I personally use in the cleaningmaintenance of the cottages. These cleaningproducts make this exceedingly important choreenjoyable.There is a complimentary bottle of California winethat comes with the cottagethat is part of the experience. Would you like ared orwhite?Often, to enhance the palate, I will present asampler plateconsisting of fresh locally produced products.Freshcaught white King Salmon, available in Trinidadis my favorite. I often share it with my guestsalong side of fresh fruit, localcheeses and a locally produced Mustard Dillsauce that is popular here.The floor is made of laminated hickory that has arich dark hue. The black granite tile counter toplooks simple, sleek and modern. Surrounding thethermostatically controlled fireplace inset intothe wall, is the same lovely tile. Thekitchenette has all the modern amenities of home.The full size refrigerator, microwave, oven anddishwasher are also black in color, integratenicely into a modern theme and are well stockedwith utensils pots and pans. Freshly groundcoffee beans, San Francisco Bay French Roast andRain Forest, are locatednext to a coffeemaker on the far left of thecounter top. There is sugar next to the coffee ina cute glass container. There is creamer in therefrigerator.There are also herbal teas available in multicolored individual packets on the counter near thecoffee.The ceramic top stove is modern in appearance withit’s sleek black color and design. It has fourburners.Renting a moving truck to transport all theappliances for the cottages from the Direct BuyOutlet in Sacramento CA, was a harrowing trip forthe ages..Home Depot provided the beautiful design andcabinetry evident in the Forest Haven Suite andother Golden Eagle Suites. Close attention todetail in the planning stages at the storeresulted with the gorgeous red colored cabinetsthat close with a gentle touch. The fixtures tothe drawers are lovely and another subtle nuanceamidst many details evident in these moderncottages.A table for two has a welcoming floral arrangementof native blooms in a vase,situated between the salt and pepper shakers. Theremote for the Satellite T.V. is on the table withaWelcome sheet containing the WiFi code and otheruseful details.The table is located in the dining area of thestudio style cottage, close to the warmth of thefireplace.Two black padded stools accompany the table.An attractively comfortable two person couchaffords a great view of the woods through theslider and a great place to watch your favoriteprograms from. Prop one or two of the couchespillows behind your back for maximum comfort. Thecomplimentary reading chair is just as comfy.Situated next to a small table with a lamp, it isan ideal place to read.A sliding pocket door separates the main area ofthe studio from the bathroom.The bath/shower has sliding glass doors. Elegantlytrimmed out with stainless steel, they take timeto clean but are worth it because the attention todetail and cleanliness is the most importantconsideration, especially regarding the bathroom.The ornate mirror above the lavi and other keycomponents blend well together here. The freshcoastal air and a cacophony of birds are heardthrough the cracked window located above thepotty chair. The provided hair dryer will notscare the deer. They are apparently tame.The hot water heater is the ‘on demand’ style.Water is heated as it moves through the unit oncea hot water valve is tAll you need to remember iswhen turning on hot water in either of the sinksor shower:Turn the hot water valve to full volume until thewater is hot.THEN, decrease the flow rate and temperature towhat you prefer.I’ve used ‘on demand’ hot water heaters forseveral years andthey have always provided hot water consistently,saving mightilyon fuel costs.Agate Beach and Patrick’s Point State Park isa short stroll away.Elk, pristine lagoon environments, Prairie CreekState Park and Redwood National Park are justminutes away.Surfing, kayaking, whitewater rafting, hiking,biking, paddle-boarding, whale, bird watching anda plethora of other outdoor activities are popularon the California Redwood Coast.Proximity to what natures finest has to offer,coupled with the peaceful tranquility of theForest Haven Suite, provides a sanctuary for theperfect romantic getaway.Celebrate your honeymoon in the Forest HavenSuite!Golden Eagle has hosted a ‘Silver’ honeymoonanniversary.There have been wedding ceremonies staged aroundthe Tranquility Pond..I know the rivers,, public beaches, parks, swimspots, fishing holes, tours and will deliver theinformation that will make yourvacation memorable.
