Description

The DAL House is a renovated, antique, Cape Cod, cottage that sits on the edge of Heal Cove on Westport Island, Maine. The house is part of the Hubbard Point Trust, a 53 acre private land preserve that is also home to the Dunn House, which sits on the western shore of the property. The houses are close enough to rent together for a larger group yet far enough apart that each is very private and quiet. Just .2 mile walk down the driveway. The Hubbard Point Trust is a true “get away from it all” location yet just a short drive to Route 1, midcoast attractions, shopping, antiquing and dining.Staying at the Hubbard Point Trust is like staying in your own private park. Hiking, biking, canoeing, kayaking, swimming are all possible as soon as you step out the door! The DAL house has a large sunroom/family room, kitchen with large dining area, a large first floor bath with washer and dryer, and a spacious first floor master bedroom. The second floor has two more bedrooms and a loft area with an additional twin bed. A first floor bath, bedroom and rear entry ramp make this house very accessible. You will never want to leave the sunroom with three walls of sliding glass doors that lead to a stone patio in the front with the sweeping lawn that leads down to the cove or the large, sunny deck in the back. Relax on the comfy couch(which is also a pullout bed) or in one of the club chairs or the recliner while looking out onto Heal Cove and it’s islands while being surrounded by the Maine woods. A peaceful retreat to read, relax, meditate, practice yoga or even watch tv. Feel the cool breeze blow in from the cove while listening to the shorebirds and crickets. Watch out over the cove to see gulls, osprey, loon, bald eagle and the occasional lobster boat pulling up their traps or kayakers exploring the cove. You will never tire of the incredible view!Enjoy coffee in the dining room while the sun rises over the cove. Grill a steak on the Weber charcoal grill on the deck or cook up a lobster dinner in the cottage kitchen and enjoy your seafood dinner while the cool shore breezes blow in. After dinner you can star gaze while you sit around the fire pit and roast marshmallows. The spacious first floor bedroom has a queen bed, new pillows and crisp sheets. Read a book or watch a little tv on the love seat. Wake up to the beautiful views and sounds of the cove.On the second floor you will find two bedrooms and a loft area with a skylight. Each bedroom has two twins in each and fresh bedding and pillows. There is also an additional twin bed in the loft area. Both rooms have views of the water, forrest and the barn. The large first floor bath has a combination tub/shower, a double vanity, and a washer and dryer. The Hubbard Point Trust is 53 acre private preserve that is yours to explore. Water access is right outside the front door. Fish or swim of the rocks right down in front. Bring a kayak or canoe and drop it in Heal Cove, a tidal cove. We also have suggestions for rental equipment nearby, they will deliver. Bring your boat and launch it at the nearby town landing. There is plenty of parking at the house for your boat. Hike along the shore line and through the woods with its tall pine and low-lying fern. Follow the marked trails and make your way to the point, a great place to watch for seal, to fish, or have a picnic with a stunning view. Take your bike out on the long driveway and out for a spin on the rural roads of Westport Island.
