Description

This beautiful lakefront home on peaceful Lake Cherokee in Tamassee, SC, is the perfect mountain getaway. The front of the home faces Sumter National Forest and the back is a few steps to the lake with gorgeous mountain views in the background. The surrounding area is beautiful and has many hiking trails and pristine waterfalls to enjoy. There is a public golf course nearby and the adventurous can navigate Chattooga River and its whitewater rafting. The home is in the northwest corner of South Carolina, just two hours northeast of Atlanta, GA, and 1 hour from Greenville, SC. Clemson University is 30 minutes away, and quaint Cashiers, NC, is 30 minutes to the north.Part of Lake Cherokee’s timeless appeal is that it is a quiet 200 acre private lake that is accessible only to homeowners and their guests. To preserve and maintain the peaceful and serene nature of the lake, the Lake Association only allows owner residents to operate boats or other motorized vessels, and jet skis are not allowed. On Lake Cherokee, we provide canoes, kayaks, paddleboards, floats and inflatables for your use. GUESTS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO OPERATE BOATS ON LAKE CHEROKEE. Boaters can rent watercraft to drive on Lake Keowee or Lake Jocassee nearby. The main level of the house is an open-concept living area with a fully equipped kitchen featuring granite countertops, stainless steel appliances and an induction cooktop stove. The kitchen peninsula has plenty of room for 4 barstools and the dining table seats 6-8. The spacious screened porch has another table for 6 and a comfortable sitting area to enjoy your morning coffee. The porch is situated so that it feels as if one is suspended over the lake and is the perfect spot to cozy up with a good book on a lazy afternoon. The vaulted living room has many windows and sliding glass doors that provide expansive views of the lake, mountains and surrounding area. The home sleeps ten with four bedrooms, three full baths and one half bath. The master suite is on the main level and has a gorgeous view of the lake from the king bed. The private master bath includes a soaking tub, standing shower, private water closet and double sinks. The two upstairs bedrooms have queen beds, ceiling fans, large closets and share a full bath with a combination tub and shower. One of the upstairs bedrooms has a full-sized crib. The terrace level has an open bedroom with a queen bed and a daybed with a twin trundle bed tucked away underneath. Next to the open bedroom is a large private bath with a shower and soaking tub. Privacy screens separate the bedroom from the game room that has a pool table and a ping pong table along with a second refrigerator. The den on the terrace level includes a large sectional sofa and a 75″ TV for streaming your favorite sports, movies and shows. The terrace has a gas grill and a double burner gas cooktop that is perfect for a classic Carolina low country boil. There is also a shaded side courtyard with a patio table and chairs. From the terrace, it is just a few steps to the large sun deck over a private dock. Relaxing in the Adirondack chairs on the sun deck offers more fantastic views of the lake and the mountains. From the dock, there are steps into the lake and a protected swimming area. There are also 2 canoes, 2 kayaks and 2 paddle boards with life jackets and assorted inflatables available for use. Fishing is on a catch-and-release basis for guests (all fish other than carp). Lake Cherokee was originally built in the 1950s as a fishing lake and has been stocked for many years with large-mouth bass, catfish, crappie, brim and blue gill. Straight out from our dock the water is over 20 feet deep. Fishing rods are available but bring your bait and tackle. And since this is private lake, no fishing license is required. There is high speed internet and wifi throughout the house and each floor has its own thermostat for varied temperature control. Other amenities include a washer and dryer and several kitchen appliances including a coffeemaker, Keurig, crockpot, juicer, NutriBullet and an ice cream/sorbet maker. There are also movies of various genres, board games, playing cards and books.Although you will want to be outside all day, there are several TVs throughout the home and plenty of games to play with the family after the sun sets. In addition to the TV on the terrace level, there are TVs in the living room, the master bedroom, and in one of the upstairs bedrooms.
