Description

Wooded Hideaway & Gateway to Adventure.Comfortable, clean, private duplex, just 15 minutes from Marquette.Surrounded by woods and next to Camp 4 Road (a gateway to snowmobiling, overlanding, and adventure mountain biking), this is a perfect place to stay if you’re looking for a gateway to adventure or a tranquil place to stay while still being just a few minutes from all that Marquette and the central Upper Peninsula have to offer. You’ll enjoy high speed WiFi, in-unit washer and dryer, a well-appointed kitchen, and more. The spaceThis comfortable, clean, private duplex connects to the other unit through a garage, so you have privacy and silence. 4 people can sleep in the bedrooms and a 5th can sleep on the living room couch (pillows and linens are in the bedroom closet). We can also provide a single roll-away cot or inflatable air mattress with advance notice at the time of your booking. While it doesn’t fit into any hip description of style or trendy architecture, it’s well maintained, wonderfully comfortable, and surrounded by beautiful Upper Peninsula woods. The living room has one couch, two comfortable upholstered sitting chairs, an ottoman, end tables, a smart TV, and a dedicated work desk. The drawers under the television have a variety of games and other fun things to do if you’re stuck inside on a rainy or snowy afternoon. The kitchen has a table to seat 6, a full-size range and oven, stainless steel sink, full-size refrigerator, and ample selection of cutlery, silverware, pots, pans, strainers (we stayed in a vacation rental without a strainer, once…), and cooking essentials. Coffee, tea, and a few basic instant meals (think ramen) are provided to tide you over until you can get to a grocery store. There is a stacked washer and dryer unit in a utility closet off the kitchen. The full bathroom has towels and wash cloths for 6, a basic assortment of toiletries, bug spray, med kit items, and other essentials. The master bedroom has a king bed and a second smart television, along with a large closet, iron, ironing board, oscillating floor fan, and laundry basket. The second bedroom has a double bed, smaller closet, oscillating fan, children’s toys and books, and a second work desk. The backyard has a small paved patio and charcoal grill that are shared with the other unit. A private firepit is located at the edge of the backyard..There is paved parking for one car in front of the garage, along with ample parking in the gravel, plowed areas for other vehicles and trailers. The driveway is a pull-through, U-shaped drive that connects with the neighboring duplex, making it easy to manage a snowmobile or 4-wheeler trailer. The internet is a 300 MBPS symmetrical fiber optic connection that’s distributed by a WiFi router. If you’re looking for a serene place to work remotely, this is it!Guest accessYou have private, full access to the entire 2-bedroom, 1-bath duplex unit, including your own washer and dryer. The garage is between the two units in this duplex, so there isn’t a shared wall between you and the other unit. Please note that you do not have access to the garage. The driveway, patio, backyard, and charcoal grill are shared between the units.Other things to noteMost importantly, we know you’re on vacation and are paying a modest cleaning fee. We’ll ask you to wash your dishes and clean up any real messes in the kitchen, but we’ll do the rest.In the winter, we hire out the plowing and snow clearing. Our plow guys are fantastic and get to us as fast as they can, but there may be times when there is some notable snow on the ground before they arrive. The same goes for Yalmer Road. The house is about 15 minutes from Marquette, 20 minutes from the hospital, 25 minutes from the NMU campus, and 45 minutes from Munising and the Pictured Rocks. It’s a wonderful gateway to adventure and exploration in the U.P.!
